Your personal worldview impacts the way you view things around you or how you are expected to do things. Many things can influence a personal worldview, and we must determine if it is good or bad. In this paper I will discuss my personal worldview, explain how my perception can influence my problem in the workplace in a positive and negative way. Lastly, I will discuss two ways I can avoid biases to influence my opinion on the way to approach the problem. My personal worldview is based on how I was raised. I was raised to treat everyone the same because you never know what can happen in life, my mother would always say “you can be
up high now and have it all now, but you never know when you will come down.” That is why she would always say to stay humble and work hard for what you want and not to get ahead of myself. She would also say that everyone can have a smile on their face, but you never knew how their life is, for example if they had a home or if they were healthy. In the problem statement of workplace tardiness and favoritism, what helped me view things in a positive way would be that I was working to get through school and get a better job so that I could do something I enjoyed and not just go to work because I had to or have to deal with things such as irresponsible employees. Even though I did not like working there I thought to myself that this was only temporary, and I could not give up just because of the actions of the other people in the workplace. Although my worldview has helped in situations to think in a positive way. I believe that some biased opinions have also impacted the problem that I experienced at the workplace. I think
that sometimes my actions would be unintentional and “unintentional bias is more likely when you make fast decisions or act on the spur of the moment” (Callister, 2023, p.1). In this case, the receptionist would come in late always and it would have an impact on me because sometimes I
would get stuck covering the front desk. When she would come in late, she would say “thank you for covering” and just continue to do the same thing over and over and it would bother me so
much that when it would get busy, I would not help her and purposely I would tell her I was too busy to cover her during her lunch time. Looking back at this I was doing this just for her to feel what I felt which was not a good thing, but I did this because of the personal work experience I had with her, and I knew she was not a reliable person, and this affected everyone in the workplace. I could have taken a different approach to help reduce the biased opinions I had on this situation. First, I should have spoken to her to understand where she was coming from and get a better understanding of why she would come in late. I knew she had children and was a single mother so did that have an effect on her tardiness? Maybe she could not find someone to drop her children off at school and this was the reason she always came late. Second, I should have realized that I was taken a bias stand and should have not let my work experience define who she
was as a person. I automatically assumed that she was an unreliable person and that she should be fired. According to Ruiz (2022) “recent studies show increasing numbers of women and people of color are choosing to leave their jobs in corporate America due to bias, lack of support,
and stressors” (p.1). She was a woman of color and had many people at work who would not want to help her or cover her lunch period but now I know we as coworkers were not helping in this situation as well. Learning from someone can help reduce biased opinions and can create a healthier work environment. My worldview had an impact on how I perceived my workplace environment. There were
positive and negative things I did during this time that affected the problem. By understanding where my coworker was coming from and not judging her, I could have avoided being biased

toward her. My approach towards the situation could have been different and now I know that I have to be more conscious of these types of things, so it does not have a negative impact in the future. References
