Group Work Self-Reflection & Evaluation Name: Tinh Van Huynh Group Name: Nick 1 Group Work Self Reflection Log 1. Rate your group participation using the following rating scale: Group participation criteria 1 Always 2 Sometimes 3 Rarely I shared my ideas and answers with my group x I asked questions when I did not understand something x I helped others to understand when they had problems x I tried to make people feel comfortable working in the group x I stayed on the assigned task x I tried to find out why I did not agree with someone else x I tried to use my personal phone only for tasks on hand x 2. Write brief comments about yourself as a group member. In my group, I am good at respect and trust the others, which helped and supported my group developed their insight ideas and then came to the final results; because what I and my group members shared are the same important. Therefore, as many ideas as more solutions we found. Everyone was free to share their comments and ideas. Moreover, I stayed on my tasks and always asked questions to initiate discussions, which to help me a lot in understanding the assignments. Next time I will try to be better at conversation. Indeed, I listened to them and did what the others said; but not spoke up my opinions. Sometime I spoke up my opinions but those ideas had not recognized, even though I felt mine was the best one. It might be I did not know how to explain and convinced others to use mine. I feel my group was cooperating The most frustrating part of being in this group was: I took longer than other members to finish my tasks, but, they always helped me to complete them. I felt my contribution was not as much as them. If you did not rate team members less than 3/3 on participation but felt they deserved less, please indicate why you did not penalize them (if this question applies). No, all of us were very good group members, teamwork and collaboration. No one deserved less than 3.
Group-Work Evaluation Form: 1. Overall, how efficiently did your group work together on assignments? Poorly Adequately Well Extremely Well 2. Out of the group members, how many participated actively most of the time? None One Two Three Four All 3. Out of the group members, how many were fully prepared for the activity? None One Two Three Four All 4. Give one specific example of something you learned from the group that you probably wouldn’t have learned working alone. I think working alone was easier and I could control everything. However, after working with my groups during few weeks, I realize that learning from peers was the crucial benefit, because when working in a team, we went through discussion and interaction which gave me a chance to learn skills and perspective from them. People always learning from their surrounding during their lives, so work with a team is the best way to learn knowledge and life. 5. Give one specific example of something the other group members learned from you that they probably wouldn’t have learned otherwise. They knew how to work with international students, because they needed to spend more time to get know me regarding to different culture and language. I felt they were very patience to explain and instruct me to join their conversation. 6. Suggest one change the group could make to improve its performance in the future. One thing should be improved is to clarify outline roles and responsibilities. I think this help me focus on part and spend time effectively. However, they were very nice and supported each other to complete the assignments instead of passing the buck to others. Overall, I was satisfied with my groups and we followed flatter pattern with no leader, but everyone contributed equally and essentially. 7. Do you feel you would have done a better job with the assignments and quizzes if you had not worked in a team? Why or why not? I feel I would have not done a better job without a team. Firstly, it would spend more time to discover the assignments, but team members would help us to share work. Secondly, I got more brains help me to think and more ideas that I could refer to. It means they helped me to see and understand which I could not figure out by myself, alone. i Angelo, T. A., & Cross, K. P. (1993).
