Clients: The Bargas Family
Problems that need to be addressed:
Mrs. Bargas has been out of work for about three months
and she is struggling to keep the bills paid. Her husband suffered a stroke and is she trying to find a way to pay the bills, keep the family home and support their five children. Her daughter Amy is failing some of her classes at school and is being bullied by some of the students in her class. Communication is a problem between Amy and her mom as well. Mrs. Bargas is also seeking work to be able to bring the bills current. How to Work with The Client and Prioritize Problems
: In this case, I would say that helping Mrs. Baragas get caught up on the bills would be the first priority. I would reach out to resources that would be able to help the Bargas family achieve this. The second priority would be to get a job for Mrs. Bargas so that she can stay current with the bills if and/or her husband returns to work. I would reach out to the school social worker to be able to talk with Amy and address the problems that she is having at school with her grades and the other kids that are giving her trouble. Finally, being able to get a speech therapist for Mr. Bargas will be looked into
if her decides to sign the Release of Information. Related Needs on the Identified Problems
: (1) Job for Mrs. Bargas (2) Counseling for Amy Individually and with Mrs. Bargas (3) Speech therapist for Mr. Bargas (4) Resources to help with
bills
How to Utilize Client Strengths:
I would use Mrs. Bargas’s people skills to help her try to find an office job.
Treatment Plan Goals: Amy and her mom will learn communication and conflict resolution skills. Enroll Mrs. Bargas in programs that will enhance her skills for more job opportunities. Measurable Objective for Amy and Mrs. Bargas’s communication problems: Amy and Mrs.
Bargas will find 1 hour one day each week to establish a family activity.
Measurable Objective for Mrs. Bargas enhancing her skills: Mrs. Bargas will participate in job skills classes.
Specific actions to be taken to achieve objectives: Mrs. Bargas and Amy can plan events to do together on a weekly basis to strengthen their communication skills. They can plan a mother/daughter day or something as simple as putting time to the side to just talk to one another
to see what issues they are having if any and how to deal and work through them together.
Explain what information is important to document in a treatment plan and why: There are
several pieces of information that is very important and relevant to be put into a treatment plan. This is necessary so that the social worker will know how to treat the client as well as to know what types of services to provide to the client. Some of the information that is needed is the history of the client, what medications if any that the client is taking, plans and goals that been done in the past for the client and current treatment plans and goals. Having the client’s diagnosis is also important to have.
