Do you need a release of information prior to accessing this records? Please answer each question entirely. Minimum of 200 words. Behavior analytic services are widely used for a variety of reasons. Cooper, Heward, Heron (2020) explains that theses services can be used to help individuals learn new skills, reduce problem behavior , increase and maintain communication and language , adaptive skills and increase positive behaviors. In order to determine the need for behavior-analytic services, the behavior analyst has to analyze whether ABA is needed through indirect and direct methods to determine an individuals level of functioning and goals. Once the assessment is complete the behavior analyst has the ability to determine which goals, if any, needs work. Additionally, they can determine which behaviors will be targeted. While choosing the best course of action, the analyst has to also consider any conditions that may interfere with the assessments. This could be having dual diagnosis, being sick, self-injury, home settings, changes to routine and more. After taking my Pre-test and scoring 12/24 points, I set a few goals for the course. While 12/24 is half the questions and also the highest score I have received on a pre-test thus far, I would like to increase my midterm score to at least 80% and my final score to 95% and up. Another goal I have set for myself is to adapt a new studying strategy as I struggle reading the book outside of the assignments. I feel I do relatively well within the class but I never read the online book outside of discussion post and I feel that will be beneficial. My last goal in the class is to effectively relate the content of this class to my everyday work life as I am currently an RBT but also getting my supervision hours and making learning trees, and assessing behaviors. One question as a behavior analyst that I need to ask myself prior to conducting an informal or formal assessment is what are the goals of the assessment? I say this because it is important to understand why you are running an assessment so you can ensure the assessment is conducted in a manner that will provide the most accurate representation of the data you need.
It is important to review client records or available data prior to conducing an assessment to identify potential causes of behavior such environmental factors and medical conditions. This not only helps to inform the analyst of previously attempted interventions but also interventions that address the underlying causes of behavior such as past experience, academic history and family background. Reviewing this information before conducting assessments will also allow you to have an accurate read on the client allowing a rapport with an individual to be built. In order to review a client's history, records and data, it is important to obtain a release of information prior to accessing the client's records that is signed by either the individual or the legal guardian.
