Introduction
Communication is a vital part of any human relationship, and the ability to communicate is a critical skill that each person should develop (AMU, 2024). The way individuals express themselves, listen, and interpret information varies, giving rise to different communication styles.
Understanding and assessing your communication style is crucial for fostering positive relationships, resolving conflicts, and achieving effective collaboration.
What did you learn from this assessment?
Through this self-assessment, I have learned that I have two communication styles which include action-oriented as well as people-oriented style. Action oriented communication style involves being expressive as well as engaging with others primarily through actions rather than relying on verbal communication. Individuals with an action-oriented communication style prefer concise and to-the-point messages, emphasizing what needs to be done and how to achieve it.
I have also identified people oriented as another communication style. A people-oriented communication style is a way of interacting with others that places a strong emphasis on building
and maintaining positive relationships. This style is characterized by a focus on the needs, feelings, and perspectives of individuals, with an aim to foster collaboration, understanding, and harmony.
What action will you take as a result of this assessment?
The action I plan to take as a result of this assessment is to be able to enhance my communication skills. As someone who has an action- and people-oriented communication style,
I thrive best when connecting with others and getting things done efficiently. Some of the actions

I can take to improve my communication style include being direct and clear, setting clear goals, as well as providing constructive feedback. By incorporating these actions into my communication style, I will be able to leverage a people- and action-oriented approach to effectively lead and inspire others while achieving tangible results.
How can you use this information to improve your human relations communication style?
Improving human relations communication style involves a multifaceted approach, utilizing empathy, adaptability, and a continuously updated knowledge base. By understanding current events, cultural nuances, and societal trends, individuals can relate better to others and demonstrate genuine empathy in their communication. Tailoring messaging to suit the interests and backgrounds of those they interact with, fosters engagement and relevance. Active listening, respect for diversity, and clear, concise communication are essential components, alongside building trust and rapport through credible insights and nonverbal cues. Adaptability in communication style based on context and situational needs further enhances effectiveness in fostering meaningful connections and relationships.
