Public Communication: 1a. Alternative example of words or assertions that could damage an individual’s reputation: The article could potentially damage President Biden's reputation by suggesting that his accusations against grocery stores are "unsubstantiated" or politically motivated. 1b. Questions to consider: a. In your opinion, do public officials and journalists generally hold themselves to high ethical standards of communication? While some public officials and journalists may uphold high ethical standards, I feel that the majority may not. The perception of ethical standards can vary, for example, I feel that some journalists only share information that benefits their personal biases and it is crucial to hold individuals in these roles accountable for their lack of context in reporting. b. In your observation, do you hold yourself to high ethical standards of communication? If someone were to observe your communication and say to themselves, “So this is what Mormons are like,” would that be a favorable or an unfavorable perception?
If someone were to observe my communication and generalize about Mormons, it should ideally lead to a favorable perception, reflecting the values of honesty and kindness associated with the Mormon community. Overall, I feel they would have a favorable opinion, as they have the opportunity to see an open-minded, kind, and humorous person, who happens to have religious values.
