How do you think ISTE's Global Collaborator
standard might relate to or support Clemson University's Global Challenge initiative? 1 paragraph (1 pt)
I think that ISTE’s Global Collaborator standard could relate to Clemson University’s Global Challenge initiative in a multitude of ways. They both emphasize collaboration between people globally, using technology to help address global issues and increase people’s cultural awareness overall. I think that the standard supports Clemson’s initiative through international partnerships, bringing together experts and students to brainstorm ideas and solutions while using technology to exchange ideas and perspectives. Clemson’s initiative addresses these global challenges through the digital world collaborating with people from all across the world. An example of a way that the standard could support Clemson’s initiative is by bringing students K-12 together with Clemson students and partnering together with researchers to create collaborative projects that help solve some of our world's biggest challenges.
One of the global issues that I think is so crucial to focus on is bringing exposure to different cultures across the world because I think that it can completely change some people’s perspectives on their own lives. One way that this could be explored is by having high school students connect with a few different experts from different cultures. The students could travel to different countries and spend a certain amount of time learning about the different cultures. For example, they could meet with someone from Singapore, Ghana, and Chile who teaches them about the culture in that area of the world. I have been lucky enough to travel to a lot of different countries and I definitely think that it is important for students to open their minds and really take the time to learn about these different cultures. To include technology in this activity I think that it would be important for the students to focus on one specific culture and research it before they visit, meet with the expert on zoom potentially, and do a project about the culture. This way the students can dive deeper into the culture while still being able to learn about all of the cultures. The students could later present what they learned to the other students as well. 2.
