Week 5 Discussion 1
Identify one or more communication skill you have mastered or is a strength. Over the past 5 weeks I have learn a lot more how to better communicate with my co-workers and with my family. I have definitely improved on my active listening skills. In addition, one of the most important aspects of verbal communication is the ability to active listening to the individual you’re communicating with.
Having good communication skills
will enable you to get ahead in certain areas where others who are less assertive in. “Being an effective communicator means, quite simply, achieving your goals” (
Bevan, & Sole,2014). Good communication isn’t just about talking or using body language. It’s about listening well to others. By becoming a better listener, you can improve your personal relationships and social interactions, with others as well.
Identify at least one communication skill that you need to improve or is a weakness One of my weakness is nonverbal communication, my body language is something I am still working on. My facial expression, and the tone of my voice, and my body language can often tell people exactly how I feel, even if I don’t hardly say a word.
Nonverbal communication plays an important role in how we communicate the information to others, as well as how we interpret the
actions of those around us. How do you think this improvement will enhance your personal and professional relationships? I think if I pay attention to things like eye contact, gestures, posture, body movements, and tone of my voice. All of these signals can convey important information that is not put into words. Using these techniques will help me improve on my nonverbal communication. Another important part of good nonverbal communication skills involves being able to take a more holistic approach to what is being communicated to me will definitely enhance my nonverbal communication skill. This course has definitely made an impact
on my life and how I communicate with my spouse and with my co-workers, it was very beneficial in my professional and my personal life...
