Personal Media Consumption Evolution:
My media consumption has evolved significantly over time, reflecting alterations in innovation, way of life, and
individual interface (Napoli, 2011). Initially, my involvement was focused on traditional forms such as daily
newspapers and television. In any event, the approach of advanced media brought about a big change, resulting
in a more unique and individualized media narrow down. Podcasts, online publications, and social media
platforms have all become essential components of my daily data intake (Napoli, 2011).
Identified Gratifications:
This progress can be attributed to certain joys (Ruggiero, 2000). Initially, my reliance on traditional media was
driven by the need for convenient and comprehensive news coverage. As time went, a need for comfort and
customisation grew, prompting a progression to higher phases. The benefits of openness, customization, and
interaction have become essential (Ruggiero, 2000).
Seeking and Avoiding Media Content:
Effectively, I am now looking for content that corresponds to my data preferences and interface, while avoiding
sources that do not meet these requirements (Ruggiero, 2000). This conforms to the norms of the Use and
Gratification theory, in which groups of viewers are viewed as dynamic purchasers who choose media to suit
certain needs, whether educational, entertainment-related, or social.
Participatory Behaviour in Media Engagement:
Later in my media participation, I effectively connected with material on social media by participating in
debates and presenting my hypotheses. This interactive behaviour resonates with Active Audience hypotheses
(Perse, 2001), emphasizing that crowds are not passive purchasers but play an active role in generating and
understanding media content. Social media platforms promote an active exchange of ideas and hypotheses,
which contributes to a sense of community (Perse, 2001).
