Outline To Write A Speech Analysis My speech seemed to be going well in my opinion until I saw the five–minute mark and I was only half way through my second point. I still had my entire third point and the conclusion. When I reached the six–minute mark, I was finishing up my second point. I am surprised Mr. Stauffer let me finish the speech. I ended the speech at eight minutes and twenty–four seconds, the time keeper kept the stop–watch going to see what I would end at. The only thing I did to prepare was make my visual aid and write my outline. Other than that I did nothing to prepare for my speech. When I got in front of the room I instantly thought , "Oh crap, I am not ready for this." Then I just started to go with it. When it came time to reveal the pictures on my visual ...show more content... Just going with it seemed to allow for too much variation with what I actually wanted to say. I was able to go off on the little things about my friends and that ate up almost four minutes by itself. I feel that if I had kept some note cards I would have not gotten off track with stories about my friends. I would have been able to finish my speech in time. I felt that my nervous traits did not really show while I was giving my speech other than I just said random things when I was not sure what to do like when my picture ripped. Next time I will have to write out note cards to prevent myself from possibly "de–railing" my speech. Maybe if I were to actually prepare for my speech, who knows what could actually be improved in my speech. I do not feel uncomfortable talking about myself, but I simply do not like to. Some people will consider that as being uncomfortable, but I do not think so. I may not go around telling everyone about myself, but I do not mind if someone asks a question about me. Depending on how I am feeling, I may or may not answer. You can say I am more uncomfortable with answering questions about myself, which for the most part is Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Mandatory Vaccination Argumentative Essay Mandatory vaccinations have been hotly debated in the United States for over two centuries, making the argument almost as old as the country itself. As early as 1809, Massachusetts became the first state to mandate the world's premiere vaccine. Authorities recognized the life–saving benefits of the smallpox vaccine . They chose to require inoculation to protect the community from further outbreaks. Public outrage ensued as some community members feared the new vaccine and believed they should be able to choose if they wished to receive it. The most vocal protestors formed anti– compulsory vaccination groups and were successful in getting laws overturned in many states. However, even the United States Supreme Court has upheld states' rights to require immunization. (A) Vaccinations should be ...show more content... Despite significant progress in the fight against preventable disease, millions still die needlessly each year. According to UNICEF, originally known as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, a vaccine preventable disease is responsible for 2 million fatal infections worldwide each year. About 75% of these deaths occur in children under five years of age. (N) In more vivid terms, UNICEF notes that vaccine–preventable diseases kill a child every 20 seconds. (D) Due to high rates of childhood vaccination, the United States has experienced a dramatic reduction in such deaths. A comparison of the years 1950 and 2010 clearly illustrates the benefits of vaccinations. During this 60–year period, deaths from diphtheria reduced from 410 to 0, tetanus from 336 to 3, pertussis from 1,118 to 26, and polio from 1,904 to 0. Measles deaths dropped from 468 in 1950 to 0 in 2008, the last year a United States death rate was recorded. It's not surprising that vaccinations have been touted as one of the top ten health achievements of the 20th century by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Grit Essay Examples Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand ...show more content... I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point. Writing An Assignment Analysis When I write an assignment, from a simple analysis to a research paper, I always start with writing an outline. The outline helps me with the flow of my writing and reminds me where my work will take me. The outline keeps me organized in my thoughts and aids in the comprehension of my writing; it will start out very broad and eventually becomes very specific so the essay is easier to write. I have gotten into the habit of writing outlines when I would write any assignment during my sophomore year of high school. My teacher would require us to write outlines for major writing assignments which developed my habit to write an outline for any assignment. After the outline, I begin writing the assignment and edit while I write. I do this by briefly Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

The reason I chose this topic is because I have depression. Not only that but I only know a limited amount of this disorder, and also considering the fact that depression runs along side both of my mom's and dad's side of the family. My curiosity grows as I wonder, what does this really mean? Why was i diagnosed with depression ? Is depression permanent or can it be cured? How? Where does depression come from? On this journey as i take you into the world of mental health knowledge, you will also get to know a little bit about depression, and maybe answer some of your questions. Now that you know a little bit more about Dysthymia, you are probably wondering, what are some of the symptoms? Some of the symptoms of Dysthymia are: sadness or depressed mood most of the day or almost everyday, loss of enjoyment of things that were once pleasurable, major change in weight ( weight loss or gaining weight), insomnia or excessive sleep throughout the day, Fatigue, feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness or guilt almost everyday, thoughts about death or suicide . Now that you know some of the symptoms of Dysthymia, you might wonder, How are you diagnosed with it? A mental health specialist or a psychologist, generally makes the diagnosis based on the symptoms of the person. There is no blood, x–ray, or any other lab test that can find out if you have Dysthymia. Now that that's clear, the final question is... Is it curable!? Although Dysthymia is a severe illness; it is also very treatable. As with any chronic illnesses, early diagnosis and medical treatment may reduce the intensity and duration of symptoms, and also reduce the likelihood of it developing into major depression. To treat Dysthymia doctors may use psychotherapy, more commonly known as, seeing a therapist, along with taking antidepressants. Dysthymia can be treated by a primary care physician. Now, last but not least is "Genetic Depression". It has been known that depressive illness can run in families. Genes that we inherit from our parents can determine lots of things such as gender, hair and eye color. Our genes also determine which illnesses we may be vulnerable to at some point in our lives. Every cell in our body contains around 50,000 to 100,000 genes. They are all made up of DNA ( deoxyribonucleic acid). Essay on Reading, Writing and Literacy I wouldn't say that I am a good writer, and I really don't like to read books either. Through my years in school I became literate in these two categories. I was and still am not interested in writing, or reading books in my spare time. The only writing I have ever done is for school. Writing just does not interest me, and the only reading I do out of class is reading about sports in magazines , or reading the news, or looking at web pages . I have only read a couple of books on my own, 95% of all the books I have read have been for school.
