Essay On Service Learning
Service learning is a great new experience for college students. Students better themselves by
participating in this program, but everyone has a different input on how they feel about it. Service
learning could really help those that feel lost with their major or direction of life in general. By
implementing a service learning requirement for all RCBC students to graduate it will create a
positive change because it benefits the community, students may discover they love volunteering
long–term, and students will also gain experience and course credits. Initially, implementing a
service learning requirement for all RCBC students to graduate creates a positive change because it
benefits the community: both parties benefit from it.

This will lead to students partaking in community service in their free time which is always a major
positive and something everyone should be involved in. Scott Seider, Samantha Rabinowicz, and
Susan Gillmor talk about service–learning in "Differential Outcomes for American College Students
Engaged in Community Service–Learning Involving Youth and Adults". The authors also state
"Students achieve a greater awareness of social issues and a deeper commitment to community
involvement" (Seider, Rabinowicz, & Gilmore). The authors of the article also use Kendrick,
Markus, Howard, and King as references for the quote. By helping the community, a person has a
deeper relationship and a better understanding of it.
This program also creates a solid activity they can add to their resume. Someone with an
engineering major might start this and change their whole major because of service learning,
realizing what they have a passion for. "Colleges are best–poised to create in their students a lifelong
commitment to volunteering even a few hours a month" (Eggers). By going monthly, some students
create a schedule in which they include volunteering. If they go on to do it for years, it becomes a
part of their day to day routines, volunteering really changes a person for the

Customer Service Essay examples
Companies are misguided nowadays by the notion that customers depend on them, when the truth of
the matter is that companies are dependent on those customers. Customer satisfaction and customer
loyalty is now essential for a business or company to survive. So what is the difference between
customer satisfaction and customer loyalty and how to companies and or business achieve this? Also
when you have difficult customers how do you achieve customer satisfaction?
It's essential that companies or businesses today listen to their customers. No company or business
today can afford to disregard the importance of customer satisfaction and loyalty. Aren't they the
same thing? No, they are absolutely not and they are enormously

Customer loyalty is much harder to obtain that customer service satisfaction. The most important
first step is to satisfy the customer by meeting their expectations. Customers only give a company
one chance and if they aren't satisfied they will not do business with that company again, as well as
tell others of their experience. The next step would be to exceed the customer's expectations. If a
business goes above and beyond to assist the customer they begin to build loyalty. The next step is
to truly surprise the customer. In order to dominate the marketplace the company must find a way to
make them selves stand out with their product or service, accompanied with phenomenal customer
service. Once this has been done customer satisfaction and loyalty will be gained. "Acquiring a new
customer can cost four or five times more than keeping a current customer" (Bestmark, 2013). So
it's essential to keep the current customer's happy and coming back for more.
Some of the ways that businesses can build loyalty would be by offering loyalty programs,
Interacting with customers, surveys, creating institutional ties, and personalized marketing
. Another
way to build loyalty is to treat your employees so well that they treat your customers well. If you
have happy employees they will treat your customers happy. "The link between satisfaction and
loyalty however is not proportional" (Kotler, Keller, 2009, p71), so businesses must

Reflection On Customer Service
1. Demonstrated experience in customer focused service delivery (Customer focused)
My most recent positions that I have worked in retail for over one year with both Coles and
Woolworths respectively as an operations graduate and a replenished team member. I was on a retail
leadership program which involved running the following each of the departments as a department
manager this included checkouts, eftpos, handing and counting cash, receipts, refunds, customer
service, grocery, fresh food, deli, bakery, meat, financial training which leads at the end of the
program to a store manager or store support manager.
The reason for the move from Sydney to Tasmania is that I just went through as divorce and needed
my family support as my Mum and sister live here in Hobart.
I always offer my customers excellent customer service and I will give you an example of this. I
always greet my customers that come within one meter of myself with a hello and smile and put the
customer first.
Customer: One of my customers comes up and says I am looking for the Asian sauce do you know
which isle I can find it in.
Me: Absolutely, I will personally walk you to the item in the isle
Me: What type of Asian sauce are you looking for
Customer: Customer pointed at the Satay sauce
Outcome: The customer had a large smile and said Thank you so much for helping me.
Me: My pleasure

the one who inform them that we had some goods news for them, as soon the family arrived the
counselor speak to them and it was great seeing the face of those people, they were so happy about

What Does Service Mean To You Essay
I've grown up with the influence of strong women in my life, a lot of which came from my sisters.
One of my sisters was a member of National Honors Society and she always taught me in the ways
to conduct myself like a member would. So growing up I would always try to be the best person I
could be whether that means by studying my hardest, leading the way for my peers and other
generations, doing good deeds for others, or building my character. I would try to tie in the values to
make me as unique and individual as I could. Service is something that every person does in their
life. I try to do as much service as I can, which means a lot of my service is in the summer or while
school in on breaks. While service can be done through organizations and for well–known causes,
service is also seen in everyday life. Service can be through small acts of kindness, such as, holding
open the door, helping someone who's carrying a particularly heavy load, or simply just being there
when they need a shoulder to lean on. Service is about making someone day brighten with little rays
of kindness and to show that someone out there definitely cares for them. Acts of service always
created a desire in me to help make people's lives better. People often put forth their best

Essay about Service Recovery
In providing services to the customers, service recovery is a missing element. The effective service
recovery process attracts customers as well as leaves a positive impact on them. Process of service
recovery brings customers from their bad feelings and perceptions to the positive edge. Effective
service recovery process is a major element in maintaining customer's satisfaction and loyalty. (John
Tschohl)
The service recovery means the service provider taking some effective actions or steps to avoid
losses or dissatisfied customers, to change their bad feeling and negative perceptions about the
services provided to them, and at the end service providers convert these dissatisfy customers in to

Quality of services is very important in the process of service recovery. Total quality management

(Pearson, J. Michael)
Customer satisfaction is also of great importance in the process of service recovery and it is
considered as an important thing in the process of building customer and organization relationship.
Satisfaction level can be measured through a process that whether the perceptions of the customers
are meeting their expectations or not. If they meet it means that the customers are fully satisfied and
if it does not meet, it means that customers are not satisfied with the available services. Customer
satisfaction and their retention is a major element for the service providing organizations.
Companies are too much interested in retaining available customers while targeting non–customers;
measuring customer satisfaction provides a way how successful the association is at providing
goods and/or services to the marketplace. Customer satisfaction is a vague and theoretical concept
and the real expression of the condition of satisfaction will differ from person to person and
goods/service to goods/service. (Ishfaq Ahmed1, Shafiq Gul2, Umer Hayat3, Mohammad Qasim).
Customer satisfaction is the most usually used study in marketing. Customer

Essay about Service Marketing
Introduction
In an ideal situation, customers would not have to wait for the delivery of products and services.
However, in the real world, organizations cannot always match exact capability and demand;
therefore, waiting is frequently inevitable while purchasing, especially in service marketing
, as
service firms can barely inventory their "stock" for sale at a later date (Lovelock, 1992, p.154). In
general, waiting in lines – known as "queuing", happens when the number of customers arrive at a
facility exceeds the capability of the system to serve them (Lovelock & Wirtz, 2011, p.260).
Basically, this essay will state the relationship between queuing and customer satisfaction, as well as

When the consumer is waiting alone and have nothing to do, especially in an unfamiliar facility, the
feeling of boring, uncertain about waiting time, stress and anxiety will be increasingly enlarged with
time passing. Queuing also seems more burdensome if people feel physically uncomfortable.
Moreover, because of a fear of "been forgotten", the senses of "get started" of customers are fervent.
It is claimed that the anxiety level is much higher while waiting to be served than it is while being
served, even though the latter queuing will be longer (Lovelock & Wirtz, 2011, p.267; Maister,
1985).
Unpleasant waiting experience might accompany with customers go through the whole service
process, which could lower the overall evaluation of service quality easily. Not only the queuing
experience, a number of studies also investigated that queuing time in a service organization
significantly influences consumer satisfaction. In general, increasing in waiting time is associated
with decreasing in customer satisfaction (Katz, M.Larson & C.Larson, 1991). The graph (Dube,
Renaghan & Miller, 1994) below shows the effect of waiting time on customer satisfaction in
restaurant industry, and suggests that most consumers do not satisfied if the waiting time is longer
than 8 minutes. In addition, another study (Jones & Dent, 1994) examined that 70% of respondents
considered waiting time as a major

Reflective Essay On Service
To do service is to help others and to do justice is to serve. With limited service experience and
minimal justice work, I have a different understanding of what justice is and how I can do it as a
professional. The service work that I have done while at Creighton happened during my freshman
year. My idea of justice comes from how I was raised, some personal experience, and one of the
readings that was discussed in class.
My experience with service while at Creighton started and ended my freshman year with the
Freshman Leadership Program. Because this service experience was three years ago I do not
remember all of the details and conversations that I had while doing this service, following is what I
remember of my service experiences. One of the service sites that I went to through this program
was the South Omaha Boys and Girls Club. At the club the members of the program were asked to
play with the kids, helped the children make crafts, and teach kids from 12 to 14 years of age about
bullying.
When I think about how I was feeling about this service I did not really understand how I was
helping out the organization or how this was really considered service. I was just walking around
talking to kids who could care less if I was there or not. When I think of who really benefitted from
me going to this service site once a week, my list starts with institutions, Creighton University
, the
Freshman Leadership Program, the Boys and Girls Club. Then on a lesser scale

Argumentative Essay On Service Animals
Author Anthony Douglas Williams once said, "We have more to learn from animals than animals
have to learn from us," (A–Z Quotes), but what most people fail to assimilate is that animals have
given humans erudition on many subjects. Throughout history, animals have helped with
advancements in science, contributing to new ideas to keep people safe and healthy. Moreover, they
continue to help humankind every second of the day, and will continue to do so as science and
technology evolve.
A multitude of traits qualifies animals to work as service animals. The variety of types of service
animals are Assistance Animals, Psychiatric Service Dogs, Emotional Support Animals, and

those men who smoke or drink a lot, they need to be encouraged to cut down on them as soon as

Essay on Service Dogs: Much More than a Helpers
At first sight, service dogs look like any other dog. They are furry. They walk on all fours. They
have a tail. But they have many differences from other dogs. Service dogs are well behaved and are
obedient. They wear clothing that no other dog wears such as a vest to make people aware that they
are service dogs. Service dogs perform tasks that no other dogs can do, like paying for meals and
carrying objects for their owners, sometimes in a vest compartment like a backpack. Service dogs
are unlike other dogs because they are trained to do tasks that human beings normally do, but can't
because of some disability. Service dogs help their owners navigate the world they live in by

After a dog is selected as being a potential service dog

training. During this time, the puppy is exposed to as many environments and situations as possible,
such as cars, children and restaurants, since it will be going everywhere with its owner. Service dogs
attend obedience school and learn simple commands, such as stay, sit, and walk.
Once a puppy dog being trained as a service dog reaches eighteen to twenty months, they leave their
training family and are brought to the training organization for further training along with other
service dogs. The dogs are trained to have good manners. During their training time they learn fifty
plus commands. They are trained to perform tasks that are difficult and uncomfortable such as
crawling along the floor so that they can get under furniture to retrieve items that their owners may
have dropped. The dogs must be strong in case they need to push or pull a wheel chair through a
narrow area. At the end of training, they are given difficult tests to test their shyness and
submissiveness, if they startle, and if they are forgiving and loving. If they pass all their tests, they
go through a boot camp where their potential owners are trained how to take care of them. During

Essay On Service Quality
Service Quality Service quality is a comparison of expectations with perfomance. A business with
high service quality will meet customer needs whilst remaining economically competitive. The best
way to measure the user satisfaction is to assess the relationship between customer satisfaction and
service quality. Service quality has different definitions. To what extent a service meets customers'
needs or expectations is called service quality. Service quality is the difference between customers'
expectations of service and perceived service (Parasuraman, Zeithaml, and Berry, 1985).

The relationships between the service events, the customer's prior and post perceptions, and
perceived and actual quality of delivered service all jointly determine the success or failure of
generating value (Grot and Dye, 1999). The customer value hierarchy suggests that desired value is
composed of a preference for specific and measurable dimensions; the attributes, attribute
performances, and consequences linked to goals for use situations. Desired value, in turn, guides
customers when they form perceptions of how well or poorly a product has performed in the use
situation. That is, they evaluate use experiences o n the same attributes, attribute performance, and
consequences constructed in their desired value hierarchies. Customer value is the difference
between the values the customer gains from owning and using a product and the cost of obtaining

The Meaning of Service Essay
The Meaning of Service
Service is a word used constantly. The word service has an impression on many people. For
example; people who work as lifeguards view their work as a service to the community. Naturally,
based on working as a lifeguard their definition of service would be an action beneficial to the well–
being of others. Not surprisingly, a similar definition was found in the Oxford English Dictionary
(OED). Service is described in the Oxford English Dictionary as "the action of serving, helping, or
benefiting; conduct tending to the welfare or advantage of another; condition or employment of a
public servant
; friendly or professional assistance." Furthermore, in Webster's Ninth New Collegiate
Dictionary, service is

A service berry is "any one of various American trees or shrubs of the genus Amelanchier"
(Dictionary of Americanisms). The second definition was one many may not have recognized right
away. Service is "public worship according to form and order" (OED). After people read this they
think, of course! People are always saying "are you going to attend service on Sunday?" Many
immediately think the word service means providing for another and completely forget by attending
mass they are performing a service to a higher being.
Becoming so firmly planted in one definition of service people tend to ignore its other uses. A strong
attachment to one definition or another can be attributed to working as a lifeguard or work with
other programs like YouVote. With YouVote, participants are helping and benefitting others by
providing them with information important to upcoming elections. By providing people with
information it helps them along their way to making an educated decision when they vote. Working
with YouVote has helped to extend the definition of service to all persons who help or serve others
like; waitresses, teachers, lifeguards, doctors, lawyers, coaches, and the government. The
government continuously provides "service" to our country, or at least they try. The many readings
in WRA135 class have shown the government needs to provide more service to those in need like all
those living below the poverty line and/or on

Service Industry : An Industry Essay
2.1 Service industry Service industry is an industry that creates services. In economy, economic
activity are divided into two categories which are goods and services. Goods–producing industries
provide tangible object namely mining, manufacturing, agriculture, and construction. Service
industries include other activities apart from goods–producing industries such as wholesale, retail
trade, banking and communications. In developed countries service industry plays an important role
in the economy while primary activities, for example, agriculture and mining are dominant in less–
developed countries' economy. (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2015.) Since the beginning
of the 1990s, service industry has created enormous growth of employment in Europe especially in
commerce and distribution, welfare services, finance and business services and hotels and catering.
In the early 21st century, more than three–fifths of the global GDP are generated from service
industries and more than one–third of the labor force worldwide are working in this industry. (The
Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2015). It can be seen that service has gradually become a
crucial element in the success of organizations. The emergence of electronic business opens
opportunity to the world and intensifies competition in markets. Consequently, there is a need for
service reliability. Technology has a huge impact on service revolution. At present, service are
commoditized providing efficiency and

Essay On Service Learning
I agree with implementing a service learning requirement for all RCBC students to graduate is a
positive change. Service–learning is a teaching and learning that are a meaningful community
service in which an individual learns to get involved in meaningful services by working on projects
that will make a difference. There are several kinds of service learning activities which one is suited
best is depends on the individual. The goals of service learning are enhanced social and academic
learning, develop character, citizenship skills, and learn about the issues. Such characters are
essential for the graduating student
. It is valuable work that impacts the student and the community.
In my opinion, a mandated service–learning requirement for RCBC students is a positive change
because it is given to the community, develops the character of students, and teaches the student

As in the article "Serve or Fail" Dave Eggers states, "Meeting a World War II veteran who needs
meals brought to him would be educational for the deliverer of that meal." Involving a college
student in such activities will help a student learn about how it feels to help others in need. They will
learn the valuable skills such as problem–solving. This will let them the problem people face around
them, and then what it takes to solve this problem. This inspires the students to learn about problems
around them and solve them. This could help them gain in problem–solving skills, and boost their
self–esteem. Moreover, these activities provide the internal satisfaction that is highly

Essay On Service Design
Legacy systems built with specific design principles that can hinder the IT department when they
begin to update or make changes to upgrade the software. "Integration of these legacy systems
became an issue in the late 90s when little was done to prepare organizations on how their data
would be shared through other platforms"(Erl, 2008). This issue introduced many an array of
problems for organizations, especially when trying to convert into a larger scale model of previous
designs. "The lack of stability, extensibility, and inadequate interoperability of frameworks are just a
few of the noted problems when enterprises attempt to adopt SOA on a larger scale"(Erl, 2008). The
acceptance of service–orientation architecture will

The services created will allow consumers the access to the most up–to–date products while giving
the enterprise the correct data for further advancement in technology and business. Short–term
solutions to software can lead to numerous problems. The number one issue has the IT team trying
to diagnose an issue in limited amounts of time. The software can be complicated to understand thus
limiting the amount of time spent on designing the application could result in errors in the processes
for the enterprise. Also, short–term operations eliminate the opportunity to reduce cost and increase
production times for the organizations. Ultimately, short–term procedures do not allow the time for
real–time decisions as well as the time to develop compatible software. In conclusion, a successful
investment will revolve around the amount of time invested in the products. An organization must
devote ample time for a product to reap the maximum amount of benefits. Time equals money and
to get a favorable return an enterprise must put in the time to see any gains from their investment.

Importance of Customer Service Essay example
Importance of Customer Service
Introduction
Today's organizations fail to realize the value of their customers when it comes to the success of
their business. Without customer loyalty the success of your business will always be uncertain.
Organizations must sensitively tailor the designs of a successful firm to the particular challenges of
understanding, attracting, and keeping valuable customers. "Having satisfied customers just aren't
good enough". Kenneth Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles, co–authors of Raving Fans, believe this
concept is needed to have a successful business. I agree with this concept of customers being the
focal point of any business. I would want more than just a satisfied customer; I want a "Raving
Fan".

Discover What the Customer Wants
After creating your vision
, try to discover what the customer wants or what their vision is. The
customer will focus on just one or two things and it will be up to you to fill in the gap with your
vision. You will then pick and choose which ideas you want to use to complete or build up your
vision. Not every idea of the customer will be used or has to be used. Some ideas may not be
feasible or even applicable to what you have envisioned.
Deliver the Vision Plus One Percent
This is where the vision becomes reality; make it happen just as you envisioned it. Work out the
bugs and keep doing what ever it takes to make this vision come alive. Start out with something
small that you know you can maintain and be consistent with it. Once you have mastered that idea,
add to it, make it better by just one percent. Continue to do this with each new idea, always
producing better ideas by one percent. This way the customer is not promised something that you
will not deliver and you're not promising something too big or complex to consistently follow
through with. Consistency is critical; it creates credibility.
Conclusion
I have always believed customers are the focal point of any business. I found that having satisfied

Definition Essay On Service
Looking in a dictionary, service can be defined as "the action of helping or doing work for
someone". Before an eye–opening experience at a certain nursing home, I would have agreed with
this definition without much thought. Now, I know that service is not only limited to laboring for
someone, but much more. The type of service I would identify to be the most valuable is delivering
joy to a complete stranger, family or friend. Last year, when I began playing piano for residents in
the Alzheimer's unit in a nursing home, I discovered how I could truly brighten someone's day by a
talent I always took for granted.
The weeks leading up to my first scheduled performance, I worked deliberately to learn a few songs
that the elderly would enjoy. Being a very reserved person,

I had never visited a nursing home in my life, so I was a little intimidated. I tried taking the scene in
as I took my seat behind the piano. I waited for the activities director to announce that I would be
playing a few songs for them and that woke most of them up. The irritated look most of them gave
her terrified me and gave me the impression that they did not want to be bothered, which did not
help my nerves. Then all the eyes in the room turned to me. My fingers were shaking as they found
their place on the keyboard for the first song. I finished with only a couple mistakes, but was still
hesitant to look up and meet the eyes of my audience. I finally did and was surrounded by smiles of
everyone in the room. The welcoming warmth this little sign brought me changed the environment
entirely. Not long after, I noticed a few ladies got up to dance to my music
. This got others to clap
along and before I was done, the whole room was alive again. After my performance, I sat down to
teach them how to play cards. I patiently waited for them to understand the games they used to
know how to play, like dominoes and
