2 Discussion Prompt #1 Consider how conflict can be detrimental and/or beneficial to a relationship. Give examples and how it applies to the basic principle of conflict . Conflict can be both detrimental and beneficial to a relationship. In some cases, competition can create a stronger bond between two people and provide an opportunity to problem solve and learn from each other. For example, two people may disagree about how to solve a problem and debate the merits of each suggestion. This might lead to a compromise that can benefit both parties. On the other hand, too much conflict can be damaging to a relationship. If one person is too aggressive, it can lead to feelings of hurt, resentment, and alienation. In this case, learning how to communicate without becoming hostile or aggressive is important.
