As I get to know students, I am sometimes able to gauge what techniques and practices best suit their
needs based on their personality. However, it is not always this easy, and sometimes it takes a little trial-
and-error to determine what works best. I wonder if it will be the same as a counselor with his/her
clients. Or would this hinder the growth of our clients. I believe it is most important to build rapport with
students, and clients alike, and order to share a mutual trust and respect above all.
It is very interesting that you compare the medicalization of the counseling process to standardized
testing. I do see the similarities in this and worry that it can take away from the counseling process and
prevent our clients from receiving the care that they need.
