Option A
The first video is titled “Barnardo's "Turn Around," which shows a young girl strolling
around a metropolis at night surrounded by diverse individuals and circumstances. In contrast to
the somber imagery, the soundtrack is a happy, joyful tune. The girl overcomes challenges and
discovers a feeling of belonging; the general tone is optimism and resiliency. "Barnardo's Advert
- Repeating Itself (Violent Scenes)," the second video, shows a female getting slapped in this
film, and there are other violent moments as well. The audio's persistent, distorted tone
contributes to the ominous atmosphere. The violent events in the video contribute to the ominous
and uncomfortable tone, which makes the viewer feel in danger and afraid. The general mood is
shock and discomfort, bringing attention to the problem of abuse and violence towards children.
The third video, "Barnardo's Believe in Me 2016," has young male and female
protagonists who are shown working out in a gym while listening to music. The song's lyrics
emphasize the girl's strength and perseverance in hardship. The upbeat, inspirational music helps
to further the pleasant vibe of the video. Children who have experienced trauma are shown in the
movie as strong people who can make positive progress. The narration in the fourth short,
"Shocking New Barnardo's Advert," shows children sobbing and fleeing from gunshots while
discussing the stigmatization of children. The tense and menacing soundtrack intensifies the
feeling of urgency. The stirring soundtrack of the video intensifies its feeling of importance and
urgency. The tone is one of worry and resentment, imploring the audience to take action to stop
the unjust representation of kids.
The "Barnardo's Believe in Me 2016" video, in my opinion, is the most effective one. The
video's upbeat melody and images of a little girl working out and conquering challenges instill a
sense of optimism and resolve. The movie's message is clear: all children, especially those with
3
traumatic pasts, deserve to be treated with care and compassion. This upbeat atmosphere is
highly welcomed after the darker sequences in the films. In general, "Believe in Me" does a
fantastic job communicating Barnardo's mission to support and encourage children.
