Week 11 Observations in Development Name: Renden Dye Using information from the textbook chapters and videos this week, answer the questions in the study guide. While formulating your response, make sure to use correct terms and definitions. Reference information you use from the textbook by citing the page number using correct APA formatting. 1. Why do some people work only for the money or grades and others work by intrinsic motivation? People work for money because they have to make a living for them self’s or them family. People work for grades because they want a bigger reward, they want people to know that they are skilled in that specific area they are in. but the people who work intrinsic motivation will be motivated by joy at that moment. They are not winning money or getting grades rather they want to prove something to everybody like proving somebody wrong because they said that you cannot do a certain thing. These people want to achieve their goals and life long dreams. 2. How can the girls of Malawi and others around the world use intrinsic motivation to overcome the barriers to gaining education? This video was shocking they need to change the mind set of the people there that woman is smart. The people there have a mind set that girls are just not smart and that they need help. Other around the world need to apply Intrinsic motivation because they can overcome that barrier they are going through. They need to make it so that they find satisfaction in doing that activity. The girls in Malawi need to apply this because if they do not, they will stay stuck where they are at now. They need to find that motivation deep in them and have a positive mindset.
3. What examples did Michael Jordan show of intrinsic motivation to eventually become one of basketball's most outstanding players? Micheal Jordan is one of my favorite basketball players. After he was cut from the coach, he used that as motivation and pushed him self and even though he failed multiple times in life he was able to step up and become the greatest basketball player of all time. He used some of his hardest times and used that as motivation. Could you imagine if he just quit basketball because he was cut from the team? Who knows maybe if he was never cut would he have even played in the NBA? We all cant get down when something goes bad, we have to use that motivation and use it to our advantage.
