Measurement
Purpose:
The goal of this experiment was to learn how to use a Vernier caliper, and measure the densities of wood and water.
Procedure: In the beginning I was a bit confused still with using the Vernier Caliper, but once I watched another video it kind of broke it down a lot better to me and it became easier to do the lab.

A chem....rking as a safety inspector finds an unmarked bottle in a lab cabinet. A note on the door of the cabinet says the cabinet is used to store bottles of
tetrahydrofuran, chloroform, ethanolamine, diethylamine, and pentane.
The chemist plans to try to identify the unknown liquid by measuring the density and comparing to known densities. First, from his collection of Material Safety
Data Sheets (MSDS), the chemist finds the following information:
liquid
density
tetrahydrofuran

0.89 gmL

1.5 g•mL
chloroform
ethanolamine
1.0 g•mL¯
diethylamine
- 1
0.71 g•mL
pentane
- 1
0.63 g mL
Next, the chemist measures the volume of the unknown liquid as 1062. cm° and the mass of the unknown liquid as 1.08 kg.
Calculate the density of the liquid. Round your
answer to 3 significant digits.

Given the data above, is it possible to identify
the liquid?

How is scientific writing different from the style of writing that you learned in ENG 111?
(Select all that are correct.)
Group of answer choices
a. Scientific writing is concise, written in 3rd person, and uses past tense.
b. Science writing uses lots of colorful language to describe visual reactions to the experiment.
c. Science writing uses lots of personal pronouns (e.g., I, me, we, you, your, our) to show ownership of the results and personal attention to directions.
d.Science writing assumes the reader already knows how to do the experiment that is the subject of your paper.
e.Science writing may include references that are from peer reviewed sources.
