Pre-Assignment: Lab # 1
This assignment is to be answered prior to attending the lab.
1.
How many practice trials will be done? 6 practice trials will be done.
2.
Which measures will you post for group/class data?
I will post mean values
for group/class data.
3.
What types of figure(s) will you be required to construct?
A histogram/bar chart(s)
4.
What is/are the dependent variable(s) for Lab # 1?
The dependent variable for Lab #1 is Reaction Time scores.
5.
In the Choice RT condition, which key do you press if the circle turns orange?
The “S” key.
6.
How will you determine the duration of Stimulus Recognition?
Duration of Stimulus Recognition will be determined by subtracting mean RT value
from different tasks (to be specific: Task C – Task A)
7.
How many test trials will be done?
20 test trials will be done.
8.
What is the Max RT (ms) for a subject’s Reaction?
900 ms.
9.

Consider the following SAS data and formula.
Volume of sample at $1%: 50.2 ml
51% = 55%
52% = 70%
Volume of SAS =
[(volume of sample at S1%) (S2% - S1%)] / 100
[(1-(S2% / 100)]
Calculate the volume of SAS needed for this experiment given this information.

Density Lab (Need help plotting this graph)
How to plot this graph from the data sheet (see picture attached) with mass of solution (on y-axis) vs volume of solution (on x-axis) for the 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% sucrose solutions so that it is all on one graph? There should be seven sets of data with seven best-fit lines on one graph. The y-intercept of the best-fit line is set to 0. Please include how to setup the data in excel spreadsheet to plot the graph.
Thank you

• Stock solution: 1000 mg/L
Target sample concentrations: 50-400 mg/L
• Create a 5-point standard dilution to cover the test
• If each test only needs 10 mL, make plans to make the dilution so you
have 20 mL of each concentration.
