Assignment Type: Discussion Post Service: Writing Pages/Words: 1 pages / 275 words (Double spacing) Education Level: College Language: English (US) Your Deadline: Sep 27, 14:00 Assignment Topic: Epidemiology Discussion Board 5: Noncommunicable Disease Epidemiological Concepts Subject: Nursing Sources: 1 source required Citation Style: APA 7th edition Instructions Benzene is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor, and it evaporates quickly when exposed to the air. While benzene does form naturally, through volcano eruptions or forest fires, most human exposure to benzene occurs through occupational exposures. Benzene is a starting material used in the production of other chemicals, plastics, and pesticides. Benzene is also released into the environment through car exhaust as well as cigarette smoke. Benzene is a known carcinogen; epidemiologists have extensive evidence demonstrating that benzene causes leukemia and other cancers of the blood cells. Complete an epidemiological triangle for chronic diseases based on the information above, being sure to clearly identify and describe the causative factors, groups or populations and their characteristics, and the environment. As an epidemiologist, please
discuss where on the triangle—causative factors to people/groups, people/groups to environment, and environment to causative factors—you would intervene to stop the development of leukemia or other cancers of the blood cells. In a couple of sentences, what is your "take-home" point for this week. What have you learned? In contrast, is there any area that is still "muddy" for you? Please let me know so I can help to clarify for you and the class. Again, please ensure any reference(s) you provide include a workable URL so the instructor can check and verify the information in the site.
