Tubes 5 and 6: The color will change and the separation of the oil and water will be visible. Tubes 3 and 4: I will be able to see the oil breakdown and the water separate. Observations/Data Tables Data Table 1. Tubes 1 and 2 Observations Day Tube 1 Tube 2 0 (Initial setup) None of the solution or oil has split but it is foamy on top. This tube has much more foam on top than tube 1. 1 I am starting to see the oil rise to the top. The color is changing to a light orange/brown and it is a little foamy/ 2 Small amount of oil sits on top. The color is like a watery orange. Thicker solution than tube 1. A big ring of foam sits on top.

Really bubbly. 2 The gray color is gone. The oil has started to rise to the top. A tube full of foam. 3 Water and the oil has separated. The oil has thickened on top and bubbles sit under it. Data Table 3. Tubes 5 and 6 Observations Chosen environmental factor to alter/change: Light Conditions Day Tube 5 Tube 6 0 (Initial setup) The oil and solution has created a light pinkish color. This tube has the least amount of liquid in it than the other tubes. Turned a brownish color. 1 Starting to see oil and bubbles form. A lot thicker than tube 5 and the oil has separated to the top of the tube. 2 Really orange and cloudy. Foam on top, thick oil, then water. 3 Has thickened up a lot. A lot of bubbles are throughout the tube and oil mix. Can see all three parts, the water, the oil and the solution. continued on next page
