I do see your reasoning behind this because you think potential candidates might be scared away. However, I have two reasons why we need to keep the lifting requirement on the job posting. First and foremost, this helps the potential candidates to see if they are able to perform the job successfully. If this is not listed, we will attract candidates that may not be able to perform the job successfully. Secondly, we need to stay in compliance with state and federal regulations by keeping the physical functions rather than taking it out completely or putting personal characteristics wording. I do have a couple of questions for you. How many times a week does the team lift up to 50 pounds? Do the employees have proper equipment and safety gear to be able to perform the job at their best?
