A company’s highest priority should be how they present their quality of brand of business to their customers. People want to know when they are investing in a brand what sets your brand of business apart from another, what values do you stand for, why should they invest in you, what qualities do you have, and are you going to be around for the long haul? When I purchase from a place, I want to know first off, how do they treat their employees? Do they treat them like they would want to be treated? Have they been there every time I go there, and do they know me by my name, and ask how my family is doing and care? If this is a small town, I am referring to it here, because in a city you will not get this. If people are only out for their money and not out for what’s best for the culture and community, their business will sadly never make it. A good example of competitive advantage here is, say you some friends are talking about Christmas gifts, and what you’re getting some family members let’s say. You get home and are scrolling through your phone, and your amazon app, and you were not even on your phone when you and your friends were talking about these gifts, yet these gifts that you spoke of, are appearing on your phone’s amazon app. I know that technology has come a long way and that these smartphones are listening to everything that we say these days such as these amazon dots and Alexa devices that have throughout our homes and what not. So, you may have been looking for ideas for gifts but not specifically put those ideas or worded it to those gifts that were said. So, it’s kind of spooky if you really sit and think about it. Technology has come a very long way, an will much further, algorithms are insanely intelligent creations that go beyond our knowledge of any realm we can begin to imagine. In my opinion, when using information technology to gain a competitive advantage there are several ethical considerations that organizations should consider. Privacy and data security of customer and employee data, unauthorized access or breaches can have serious consequences of ethical complications that can lead to loss of trust and future business prospects.
