Feedback can be perceived emotionally in very different ways either negative or positive. Feedback can result in happiness, anger, or even disappointment. My perception of receiving feedback can vary for what type of feedback it's about. I try not to take it personally because feedback is a vital tool for growth and improvement. b. How does receiving feedback make you feel? i. Depending on what type of feedback it is, it can make me feel anxious if I did something wrong. Or make me feel proud of myself for achieving my goals and moving forward. c. How can you improve your reaction to feedback? i. The ways I can improve my reaction to feedback can be to not take anything too personally. Feedback can be a positive tool for personal and professional growth. Even if it is negative feedback it can show you how to learn from your mistakes and become a better person from it. 2. Describe how you can use past feedback to inform how you give and receive feedback now. a. Using past feedback can help you prevent mistakes in the future. It can help you with past experiences and how that knowledge can be beneficial for future experiences. b. What have you learned from past experiences in which you received feedback?
i. I work in the medical field and receiving feedback is very important not only for the patients but for myself as well. Working in the medical field can be life or death so feedback is important to keep myself level-headed and focused. It teaches me it’s okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. c. How can you apply what you learned to future feedback situations? i. You can apply feedback in personal or professional situations in your life. Personal feedback and advice in self-care mentally or physically. In professional situations, I could apply feedback to work harder for a promotion or raise. 3. Describe the impact that diversity awareness has on giving and receiving feedback when communicating and collaborating with others. a. Diversity awareness is imperative in giving and receiving feedback when communicating and collaborating with others. It is beneficial in understanding and respecting inclusivity within different communities. By doing that it can result in lower miscommunication and ineffective feedback. 4. Describe how you can use strategies for interacting with diverse groups of people as you give and receive feedback. a. One strategy I can use to interact with diverse groups of people when giving and receiving feedback is how I communicate with them. First, having a better understanding of the group's beliefs and values is important in how I can give feedback without disrespecting anyone. Another way is by being away from certain social cues or body language. Certain cultures take eye contact as
offensive so it’s important to understand their different boundaries to make sure you convey the right message.
