Student Assessment Tasks
Assessment Task 1 Instructions as provided to students
Provide answers to all of the questions below:
1.
Discuss three methods that program managers can use to develop a future state scenario.
Scenario planning: This approach involves generating prospective scenarios by exploring "what if" questions, seeking novel and innovative solutions for existing or future processes. Risk management: Using this approach, one can assess both external and internal factors within a program's context to identify potential risks, failures, and threats that may hinder the achievement of objectives. Program vision: This method focuses on articulating a desired future state that the program aims to achieve.
It encompasses the program manager's activities in defining the benefits, risks, stakeholders, justifications, and responsibilities. The clarity and objectivity of the vision depend on having sufficient information to support its realization.
2.
Explain the business case development process and in your answer include details about the way this can be documented and presented.
The first thing that needs to be done in order to begin the process of developing a business case is to define
the business case. Before defining the business case, it is necessary to first identify the business goals that will be achieved via the implementation of the proposed project. Following the previous stage, the following step in the process is to design the business case. During the design phase, criteria are established for including or excluding certain costs and benefits in the 'case', as well as for assessing and quantifying those costs and benefits. These rules may be expressed via the use of core design components such as the case scope and bounds, the case cost model, and the case benefits reasoning. The next step is to establish a business case for the project.
3.
Discuss the program execution approach and how it can be developed. A program execution strategy is analogous to a milestone plan in that it lays out a fundamental framework for the organized implementation of a project and outlines how that framework should be implemented. It specifies the "when" and, by extension, the order in which the goods, papers, or outcomes (as well as the activities that relate to them) are to be developed. In the process of designing execution plans for significant projects, one of the most important steps is to determine the ultimate objective. Create a strategy overview that outlines the goals, objectives, and procedures that will be used to carry out the plan. Ask Everyone to Write a Narrative 'Memo' Regarding the Project. Maintain close oversight and management of the whole process while checking to see that everything is proceeding as expected.
4.
Describe a program governance model which may be adopted by an organisation. One of the oldest and most common forms of governance used by non-profit organizations today is the advisory board. Members of an advisory board normally have relatively little direct ability to make decisions, but they have a very high impact on the CEO and provide him counsel. An advisory board will be established, which will include of luminaries from the industry who are in a position to give the organization with highly professional abilities as well as a broad network of contacts. These abilities and connections are of tremendous value to the organization, which is able to capitalize on them to improve its legitimacy as well as its fundraising and advertising efforts.
