1. EMR is important and needed for medical practices, which must be reimbursed by Medicare. It is noted that specialized offices are being obliged to make use of the UMRS system, which have been observed to be inefficient for specialty practices. 2. It is noted that there are many mandates that have affected the efficiency, productivity and revenues. These issues have been highlighted however, the issue is continuing. The software is not working in a compatible manner with other programs and there are many problems with the hospitals database. 3. EMR can help in increasing financial incentives of any organization. It helps in smooth accessibility and sharing of data. EMR helps in securely storing the records. However, there are certain drawbacks of the system like the patient information is often vulnerable to the hackers. The overall system can be expensive because additional cost is required to for maintaining and purchasing the needed software. 4. Inspire of the benefits of using EMR for medical practices the acceptance rate of the system is observed to be low and many practitioners are resistant at using them. In the given case, EMR installation must be considered as an important change for the project because it will help in improving the quality of healthcare services while reducing cost. The key to a successful implementation is that the value of relationship management must be recognized along with the roles and responsibilities of individual employees in helping the team to manage the change. EMR helps in saving time of the employees and they are able to invest their time in higher value operations. When physicians engage in using EMRs their productivity increases because the office efficiency increases. It is noted that when paperwork’s are minimized physicians are able to save time in which they can attend to more patients. It is a time taking process to reach the standardize and 2
consensus EMR system because it is vital that every member is involved and the system is monitored regularly. Teamwork, readiness and enthusiasm are considered as the most vital variables. 5. In the coming future, the CIO should try to consider different actions in order ensure that same problem is not arise regularly. The first step is to ensure that all the workers in the healthcare system are well trained in both UMRS and EMR (Senbekov et al ., 2020). This will help in eliminating misunderstanding and uncertainty regarding the functions of any system. Informing the employees and other workers regarding the changes will ensure that all the members are on the same page. It is important that concerns and questions of every member is answered and resolved to increase satisfaction. It is evident that technology is changing continually therefore, it is necessary that everyone stays updated. Therefore, the CIO should organize sessions that requires compulsory attendance. This will help in ensuring that skills are up to date. It is essential that CIO manages the issues of specialists being negatively affected by the UMRS system which is reducing productivity and causing inefficiency 3
