Robert Asika Student Interest Inventory Worksheet 1. How would my friends and family describe me? My friends and family would describe me as a hard-working person, trustworthy, an optimist, very ambitious, a critical thinker, well organized, fast thinker, etc. 2. What is your history of work, work-study, volunteer work, or involvement in public issues? I’ve worked for a few retailers as a supervisor and manager. My first ever job was during my high school years, I worked for a company called Kid’s Town. The company specialized in kids clothing and worked as a sales associate for two years. After high school, I worked for a company called shoe mania as a supervisor for two years. The company went out business due to poor management. My last job before I started my own business was Davidz, it’s a shoe company located in downtown Manhattan. I worked there for three years as a manager, the pay wasn’t good enough for me and the owners didn’t care about its employees. I handed in my resignation letter three weeks before leaving to enable them to get a replacement for me. Four months after leaving from Davidz, I started my own business. 3. What kinds of academic courses are you interested in? There are quite a few academic courses that I’m interested in: Entrepreneurship, Business law, Accounting. Economics, Ethics, International business, etc. 4. What are some of the issues or problems on your campus or in your local community, at school or at home, that concern you? There are so many issues or problem in my community that requires immediate attention, although one that really concerns me is low and affordable health care for all. Over 40% of the people living in my community have no heath care due to the fact that they can’t afford it. It is a serious problem and I think the government needs to look into and find a way to provide an affordable health care system for all. 5. What are your hobbies or special skills? My hobbies are traveling and listening to good music. I have traveled to countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, Netherlands, UK, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, and Ghana. 6. What particular academic skills do you have or are you developing? The academic skills I am developing is how to be a successful entrepreneur and how to interact, relate to customers. 7.
