Industry Consulting Project Reflective Portfolio Prepared by : Unit Name : Industry Consulting Project Unit Code : BUS30009 Due Date : 3 June 2022 1
Learning related to the models, frameworks and tools discussed/applied in weekly modules and face to face class. Industry Consulting Project is one of the compulsory units in my final semester. The class is a classroom based which I personally think is a great opportunity as we get to learn and understand better than online learning. Personally, as a business student, I am very interested in learning this course. I have learned that the Industry Consulting Project specifically allowed students to gain the ability to address the problem of the business which is very helpful to me as I can apply all that information and knowledge to my future business. From the first to the third week, the unit on Industry Consulting Projecting demonstrates how a talented consulting tool can assist leaders and managers in achieving their aims and objectives. This is accomplished by addressing management and corporate complexities, acknowledging and 2
seizing innovative potentials, enhancing ability to learn, and implementing transformations. This experience has shown me that having specialized technical expertise to help with and identify issues facing an industry is the initial step in the process of assisting on business issues. In the capacity as consultants and mentors, individuals constantly locate or identify a fundamental problem or necessity their customers require to address. I realized that the most effective method for problem fixing is to be knowledgeable and mindful of the difficulties or insufficiency in a clear and appropriate manner. For instance, there is a significant issue with morale in the workplace. The workers do not get the sense that they are valued by you, and they also have trouble feeling connected to one another. The company should spend time with them and discuss what they can do to satisfy their needs. However, It is critical to understand the underlying causes of the problem before providing a solution as some of the solutions might affect others. In this scenario, the employees are being overwork by managers. This is a difficult circumstance that demands a high-quality problem-solving procedure to address. However, thoroughly comprehending all of the factors might make a solution easier to comprehend. The topic in week 4 concentrated on several frameworks such as PESTEL’s Analysis, Porter’s Six Forces Model and 3C’s Model. All these concepts help me to understand the importance of doing market analysis for the business as it highlights and provides a clear picture of where the business should be looking at before entering into the market. For instance, I have learned that a PESTLE study gives perspective for the corporation's objectives, branding strategy, profit targets, and efficiency threats such as how business should respond to the COVID-19 situation. It can assist in determining the viability of current goods and services as well as the creation of innovative products. Hence, I personally think that it is very helpful as I can implement such planning into my future business. 3

My experience related to weekly group work I then was instructed to form a group and work as a team. My group consists of 5 members. After interacting with one another, we decided to create a group chat as a way to communicate. We 4
have different kinds of strength. For instance, Alvin has a great knowledge in accounting, Suji is great at marketing, Emma has experience in the human resourcement area and Leadership is what Theo is good at. Hence, I believe we will do well for the upcoming assignments. We then decided to do mind mapping and brainstorming together during the tutorial as it seems to be the tool that can help us to understand the assignment accurately and to avoid the confusion. Mind Mapping is an effective way to take notes. For example, Mind Maps depict the general framework and relevance of a topic, as well as emphasize specific fact (Pillay, Lu & Funk 2020, pp. 474). In week 7, we discussed the methods of feedback grids and prototyping. Using Feedback Grids, companies may gather valuable information about their customers in order to gather feedback and enhance their goods and services. In the feedback grids, there are four sections labeled as follows: likes; feedback; inquiries; and ideas. This strategy is extremely beneficial information for our team members as we work on generating a recommendation for Ocean Innovator's project. In week 8, the main topic is about SAF Framework and Making Recommendations. The framework highlights a plan of acting aimed at accomplishing a specific goal and the capability of producing a desired result. This topic gave me a better understanding of proposing an effective recommendation. It also enables people or businesses to make efficient decisions through primary and secondary sources. This week’s learning material is one of the important topics as it will be contributing in the Ideal reports. In week 9, the class is focusing on developing an implementation plan. This strategy helps to identify key resources and operate them in reality. Additionally, this study material will be beneficial to the ideation project. Using this approach will assist me and my group members in evaluating the recommended project proposal. I recognise that in attempt to generate a solution and strategic plan, I must initially implement the feedback Generator and SAF structure to comprehend the internal and external of the company in addition to producing a remedy, and then I must create an action scheme to give a portion of the solution to each participant or group in order for the solution to perform. 5
My learning experience gained by working with an industry partner Moreover, In this unit, I was introduced to a real client for the group assessment. This lesson has piqued my interest since it will allow me to examine and analyze the ocean awareness created by companies with challenges. With the cooperation of the Ocean Innovators, I have been tasked with working on a real challenge. The company has an opportunity to benefit from my experience in this initial unit, since I am able to provide advice and suggestions to an actual organization. This is a remarkable study which gives me the opportunity to work for a legitimate company and confront real challenges. I was pleased to learn that my suggestions may help the Ocean Innovators solve a challenge. I believe that my level of knowledge has increased as a result of my growing professional capabilities as well as my desire to take control of and obligation for circumstances, especially in regard to myself as well as my personal education. In addition, towards the middle of this lesson, I was apprehensive about the prospect of applying myself to real-world business challenges. In light of the fact that I am currently in the final semester of my bachelor's degree programme, as well as the fact that I have been learning and participating in assessment activities throughout this unit, I have found that I have experienced a range of feelings related to the field of psychology, including happiness, anxiety, and melancholy. University students' mental health, as well as their academic achievement and the development of their personalities, are directly influenced by their emotional experiences (Gerda, Michaela & Barbara 2017, pp. 808). I am extremely delighted that I studied this unit since I was able to improve myself and could observe the actual world of business, both of which have sparked an interest in me to pursue a career in the field of business. I had been working for the Ocean Innovators in the position of a consultant. As a result of this, my ability to analyze and solve problems was influenced and improved. The term "consulting" refers to the use of specialized technical knowledge for the purpose of aiding in the determination of issues pertaining to a business (Kipping & Kirkpatrick 2012, pp. 777). As a corporate advisor for Ocean Innovators, consultation is a real practice in which the customer requests that I advise on a project in order to determine challenges and propose efficient answers (Ceptureanu et al. 2017, pp. 215). As a result, I gathered the company ‘s information to discuss possible solutions to the challenges as a team. I had so many concerns that I could not catch up 6

well. However, after the interview with our client, I started to get a better understanding of what needed to be done. Moreover, I got to learn more about how to collect important material and identify the issue that could occur in the business. I was taught compassion and issue evaluation, both of which I feel are crucial in our real practices. Furthermore, I also got to gather more information about the Ocean innovators regarding the individual and group report. However, it still was not helpful enough as the detail provided by the client, Vic, is somehow vagued. Therefore, I have spent a lot of time doing additional research through their website. The challenge that I was struggling with is finding the real problem which Ocean innovators are facing. I first mistakenly thought that the lack of capital was the main issue, however, after discussing with the lecturer, Peter, It was not the one as I needed to figure out what happened before they lost their sponsorship. This indicates that I have not fully understood the job to be done, which shows that making an easier and innovative process is understanding clearly the customer problems as well as brainstorming, mapping and SCAMP is a method to generate ideas to solve problems. Ritter & Mostert (2018, pp. 263) state that the process of mind mapping is an effective tool that facilitates learning, boosts the recording of knowledge, demonstrates how various thoughts and facts are connected, and fosters more creative approaches to problem solving. Moreover, Our team is engaged in a tense situation. Conflict inside a group is a common occurrence in the workplace due to the fact that various groups have different goals and objectives, which may lead to animosity and hostility amongst members of the parties (Yoon, Bak & Bae 2020, pp. 1961).One of the people in my group did not put as much work into this assignment as the others, and he did not pay as much attention to keeping in touch with the group and scheduling upcoming sessions with customers. Due to his carelessness, he performed his work improperly and contributed a component that was unfit to our report at an inappropriate time. Unfortunately, we were later informed that he no longer contributed to the assignment. The problem I encountered in my group led me and other members of my group to make a mutual decision. The process of making decisions as a group involves the collection of the individual members' own knowledge as appropriate inputs for the group to use in making decisions (Ming & Huchang 2021). We came to the conclusion that it would be best for us to collaborate in order to rebuild and re correct her portion. Dealing through disagreements and finding solutions to 7
challenges which benefit all parties involved are essential components of successful teamwork (Koksalmis & Kabak 2019, pp. 146). As a result, I am convinced that the learning concepts covered in weeks 1 through 9 can undoubtedly be used in the process of finding solutions to issues that arise in actual businesses, and that conducting tasks as part of a team is an activity that has the potential to generate numerous challenges. The impacts that this learning and experience has created on the way I am thinking as well as the future practice as an entrepreneur. In the long run, I see myself operating as a business woman and an entrepreneur. As a result of the education and experience gained while working as a consultant for the Ocean Innovators, I have come to the realization that consulting is an essential component of my fledgling company. According to Sayyadi (2021, pp. 41), consultation entails rethinking how a company operates and coming up with fresh ideas about how to direct it towards achieving its objectives. As a result, I will search for a professional consulting firm that can help me come up with creative suggestions and provide solutions to consultation difficulties that I will encounter in the development of my future company's strategy. In addition, the frameworks I acquired from week 1 to week 12 are also valuable in analyzing my corporate strategy and producing a comprehensive project proposal. More importantly, In addition, based on an encounter I had participating in a team for the purpose of undergoing the evaluation with the Ocean Innovators, it shows that if I want to be effective in operating my future firm, I must first establish an excellent collaboration. Team tension in this course has given me insight into how to better manage my prospective employees and prevent such disputes from emerging. Consequently, I will be the leader of my team and will grant others the authority to make decisions by inspiring and encouraging them to take accountability for their roles, as well as to behave ethically, in order to steer clear of any disagreements that may arise in the setting where I operate. 8
