Grow Management Consultants (GMC) engage in activities that impact the environment, use resources and create waste and emissions. Examples include using non recycled paper as well as use of vehicles. Creating a Sustainability Management System will allow GMC to control and monitor such impacts and at the same time achieve environmental objectives. Sustainability benefits - The company is seen as environmentally responsible as the business has a better reputation in the community - Savings from applying costs such as using two-sided printing - More efficient and competitive - Attracting and retaining employees improves customer sales and loyalty - Increase supplier commitment Business planning, opportunities and sustainability Sustainability should be built into business planning and should be used to inform business opportunities. There is a fast-growing market in relation to sustainable products and services. Many businesses want to see how they can include this group in their target market by providing environmentally or socially superior products to their competitors. Examples include renewable energy solutions as well as more responsibly sourced products such as coffee. Permanent goods and products may also receive government grants or have other financial benefits. So, these things should be kept in mind while planning the business and looking at opportunities. State and territory specific laws are capable of addressing issues that are specific to plant life, wildlife, agriculture, and industries that represent a state or region. International environmental law is the third regulatory body that organizations should consult on matters of environmental sustainability. International Environmental Law began in 1972 at the Stockholm Convention on the Environment. Major organizations responsible for making international law in the case: - United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) - European Union - OECD Council of Europe It is important that organizations consult all of the above regulatory bodies when they identify legislation affecting the industry in which they practice. Environmental regulations - Environmental regulations are enforced by Australia's Department of the Environment to cover specific licensing and legislative agreements in more detail and in some cases requirements that are in addition to the already existing legislation. Sustainable workplace policies build on an organization's commitment to developing staff members' ability to become active contributors to local workplace solutions to local global work problems such as climate change, environmental pollution, and degradation of natural resources. An organization that is growing and hopes to sustain that growth needs a set of strategies to develop its program, build a solid financial foundation, and prepare for the challenges ahead. In other words, it requires a strategic plan. Simply put, a strategic plan is a vision of the future of your organization and the basic steps needed to achieve that future. A good plan should include goals and objectives, desired results, metrics to measure your progress, time and budget. The reliance on technology that brings it with potential risks is leading to the creation of a new type of organization — a high-reliability organization. The idea is to design the organization specifically to manage the serious risks associated with the use of technologies that, if they fail, can have extremely serious consequences. It is a complex undertaking. A key feature of advanced and automated technologies is that their operators and managers increasingly move away from the processes for which they are responsible. With older technologies, operators can see and touch what they have controlled or produced. Mechanisms such as gears and pistons were visible, and their means of action and control were evident. Mental images of the way things have worked and how they can go wrong were easily learned and easily shared. The use is from the extraction of raw materials through recycling or disposal. For each of these steps, impacts are measured due to the resources used and environmental impacts. Life cycle assessment is a critical-to-critical analysis of a product or service. LCA can help a business identify the most effective improvement compared to environmental impacts and resource use.
