Business Strategy Business Strategy is a plan that assist companies set and reach specific company goals and objectives. The importance of a business strategy includes its ability to help guide the company in the right direction and outlines the tasks that are most important. It also helps keep the focus on what matters the most and allows them to adapt to changes in the market. A business strategy can also help a company stand out from its competition by helping them differentiate the way things are done and decide what is helping and hurting them. It allows them to have a strategic plan in place for any future problems, challenges, or changes. Importance of HRM The human resource management function is important to both employee and labor relations because it helps manage the employees of an organization. It assists in finding the right candidates for the open positions and helps ensure that they are properly trained. The human resource department is responsible for ensuring a positive work environment as well as making sure the company follows all laws and regulations required to remain a company. They should also create policies and rules that affect the employees as well as management. Human resources also maintains healthy employee relationships within the workplace and implements rules for relationships outside the workplace. 2
HR Leadership Strategies In conflict management a leadership strategy that human resources will use is creating a program to introduce a solution/resolution to a conflict. It will be very similar to a mediation program. This strategy can help employees communicate with each other when a problem occurs. It will help find neutral ground and allow the employees to speak freely and openly while staying calm and content. A leadership strategy that human resources will use for communication improvement is creating and implementing an open door policy. This will let employees know that they are there for them to come to for the good and the bad. An open door policy helps create trust in the workplace between employees and managers, improves communication, and helps create and change the workplace strategy that was originally put in to place. A leadership strategy that human resources will use for employee motivation is an award system such as praise, rewards, and recognition. This will allow the employees to know that their work is worth their time and what they are doing is appreciated by the company. This strategy will boost morale and motivation, promoting hard work and dedication. Lastly, a leadership strategy that human resources will use for behavior improvement is implementing training and updating the workplace handbook regularly. Human resources will also enforce the rules and regulations of the company by implementing punishment when one is broken. 3

Leadership Strategy Effectiveness I plan to measure the effectiveness of the leadership strategies above by having company meetings and speaking directly with the employees and managers about how they feel things are going. I would also implement feedback surveys to keep the identity of the employees anonymous if that is what they choose. Viewing the reports of the overall company as a whole can tell us a lot about how well employee relations are going. Skills for Leading Change One of the major skills needed for leading change is communication. Communicating with your employees about how secure they feel in the company can help determine what changes need to be made. Another skill necessary for leading change is motivation. Motivation is important in any workplace but in regards to change it can help push the employees to do things the right way and make the organization more whole. Lastly, adapting is a skill needed for leading change. If there is going to be change within the organization than employees as well as management needs to be able to adapt to those changes effectively for a good turnaround. 4
