W12 Reflection: International Human Resource Management Staffing policy to consider for our business model is the polycentric approach which involves promoting citizens from within the company or hiring employees who are citizens in the country they are hosted in. Some positive outcomes by choosing this method would be that choosing from within or hiring a Citizen from the product country would be less expensive than other staffing policy methods. Some disadvantages to using this approach is lack of diversity and exposure from methods of different cultures. a polycentric strategy for marketing the calendar display in the Indian market. This approach would rely on host-country nationals (HCNs) and focus on local customs and norms. we could hire local sales and marketing staff to help promote the product and tailor our messaging and branding to resonate with Indian consumers. Some potential pros of this strategy include: HCNs will hold top positions, which can boost the morale of other HCNs.
When decisions are made in the same manner as they were made at home and locals are in charge, it can help reduce cultural blindness. It is typically cheaper to implement than an ethnocentric strategy, as we do not need to bring in expatriate managers. Some potential cons of this strategy include: It may restrict our ability to expand outside of India or encounter new ideas and perspectives from other cultures. It could lead to a gap between activities in our home country and the host country if we do not invest in proper training and communication. we may face challenges with compensation and managing a diverse workforce. In terms of organizational structure, we could consider a functional structure with separate departments for marketing/sales, finance, HR, and research and development. Each department
would report to a manager who is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and providing updates to senior management. Organization Chart: The Regional Manager, will be a parent-country national who will oversee operational procedures and strategies in the region. Upper and mid-level positions, will be open to both our worldwide employees and the Indian public, with the best-suited candidates being selected. While we aim to maintain aspects of our company culture, we believe that hiring locals will benefit the company's management network and individual job descriptions. Job Descriptions: Regional Manager – Oversee operational procedures and strategies in the given region and delegate responsibilities to directors to meet company goals. Supply Chain Director – Monitor logistics and maintain inventory reports, analyze operational performance, and resolve issues in the department. Administrative Director – Manage the organization's administration, operations, and financial support, delegate tasks, and manage personnel. Marketing & Sales Director – Develop marketing and sales strategies, increase brand recognition and awareness on all platforms, lock in client contracts, and maintain excellent relationships with clients.
