We eventually were able to contact each other and sit down for the assignment. We decided on the format of turning the 1 st 4 weeks into each other and then negotiating from there. It worked out that we had exact opposites on the 1 st four. I assumed that he would pick the double week to stay open, so I used that to my advantage to show I was not only going for myself. For the next 4 weeks Victor sent me what he would like, I countered his offer stating that I would accommodate those weeks if I could have the week 12 open to myself. Victor agreed to my terms, and we finished that round. The final four rounds we decided to just see where it landed with each of us picking with out discussing first. We did this because we had agreed to the final week in previous negotiations. I knew from previous weeks that he picks 2 on and 2 off. That had also been how I did it as well. Being the final 4 weeks, I opted to stay open all of them. While I did care about his profits, I did not care enough to do all his math ahead of time to see how he was doing. During the negotiations it was not really my concern if he made money or not. I am running a business and my bottom line was the one that mattered. I knew going into negotiations that to have any chance of having a positive bottom line I would need one of the bonus weeks. I was willing to go along with his requests to get one of them. I found I was more competitive in this assignment than I probably needed to be, but still feel I was fair. I knew what I wanted going into the negotiation as well as what my group member wanted. I feel we both were able to come to fair choices, even if some of them should have been planned out a little better.
