My exploration of the Cybersecurity Technology field has yielded the following insights into key
questions:

Why did you choose an academic program in Cybersecurity Technology? Consider both internal and external influences. 1A. My interest in IT began in high school, where I spent most of my time on computers. Building my first computer in 6th grade ignited my passion for technology. After joining the Army and focusing on IT transmission, I shifted
to cybersecurity in 2020, driven by my longstanding fascination with computer systems.

What industry certifications are relevant to your career? Are there any you wish to pursue? 2A. Numerous certifications are pertinent to my career, including CompTIA's A+, Network+, Security+, CySA, CASP+, and GIAC SANS Certs such as GCIH, GCIA, GSEC, GCED, GSE, GMON, and GCCC.

What internships or apprenticeships relate to your major? Are any of them appealing? 3A. Federal internships through the USAJobs Pathways program align with my degree. While these opportunities interest me greatly, my current active duty status prevents immediate participation until I ETS.

What career opportunities exist in your field? Consider potential job titles and employers.
Which are most intriguing to you? 4A. The cybersecurity field offers diverse career paths
with high demand for skilled professionals. I aspire to work for organizations like the NSA, DoS, DoD, and DISA post-military service, valuing their stability and my positive experiences within the Department of Defense.

What new insights have you gained about your academic program? 5A. I discovered UMGC's internship and apprenticeship partnerships, which were previously unknown to me as an online student balancing military duties. Learning about these programs will aid
in my educational progress and transition from active duty service.
