Follow the same formatting and layout rules if you need to add more items to this list. All responses must be based on the state you hope to work in following graduation. 1. Identify where you would go to attain information for obtaining licensure in the state you plan to work in following graduation. Resource A: i. http://www.dos.pa.gov The Pennsylvania Department of State website. Resource B: ii. https://www.pacodeandbulletin.gov Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 2. Identify the sections of the resources you have found that outline procedures for obtaining licensure. a. PA Dept of State/Professional Licensing/Board & Commission/ Social Workers and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors/ Professional Counselor Licensure Requirements. Under requirements there is a full list of all education needed, fees, examinations, Continuing education requirements, and board resources. b. Section 49.11. Licensure Examination/49.2 Educational Requirement/ 49.12 General Qualifications for Licensure/49.13 Licensed Professional Counselor/49.14 Standards for Supervisors 3. Identify the sections of the NBCC website that explain academic requirements to becoming a board-certified counselor. a. The NBCC’s State Board Directory gives access to information about contact information, registration links, and candidate handbooks. This also contains links for the NCE and NCMHE and informs on which examination your state requires and how to register for examination. 4. Identify how your state’s regulations coincide with the ACA and AMHCA codes of ethics. Note: If your state has not adopted the ACA Code of Ethics, you will follow the AMHCA Code of Ethics. a. In accordance to the PA Code 49.71 Code of ethical practice and professional conduct “ The Board subscribes to the code of ethics and practice standards for licensees promulgated by the American Counseling Association (ACA). Licensed professional counselors (licensees) shall adhere to the ACA Code of Ethics, except when the ACA Code of Ethics conflict with this chapter. The Board will use the ACA Code of Ethics in resolving ambiguities that may arise in the interpretation of this chapter, except that whenever any conflict exists between this chapter and the ACA Code of Ethics, this chapter shall prevail” (Pennsylvania Code49.71, 2010).

b. “ The Board acknowledges the codes of ethics and practice standards of the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc., the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification, the Certification Board for Music Therapists, the Art Therapists Certification Board, the American Dance Therapy Association, the National Association for Drama Therapy, The Academy of Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselors, The North American Association of Master’s in Psychology, the American School Counseling Association and The International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, Inc., and the Board may elect to consider or refer to these codes and standards as advisory aids in resolving ambiguities which may arise in the interpretation of this chapter” (Pennsylvania Code 49.71, 2010).
