Assessment Matrix
Name and Purpose of
Assessment
Compare Assessments
(Include ethical usage,
consent, and when you
would use it) (50-100 words
each)
Analyze Appropriateness,
Reliability, and Validity
Assessment 1:
Vanderbilt Assessment Scale
Screen: This tool is used to
diagnose ADHD in children
between ages 6-12. The scale
assesses inattention and
hyperactivity along with
anxiety, depression, ODD,
academic issues and conduct
disorder (Wolraich, 2003).
The assessment has two
versions one given by a
teacher and another version
given by the parents. The
ethical use of this mostly
presents no problems, but
when multiple agencies are
involved, the minimal amount
of information needed should
be shared (Foreman, 2005). If
data and information is going
to be used in a study, must let
client/patient know data will
be included but it will not
have identifiable marks ("Aca
Code of Ethics," 2006). A
medical professional who is
permitted to diagnose ADHD
should review results. ADHD
has three main types:
1) Combined (90.2)
2) Predominantly Inattentive
(90.0)
3) Predominantly
Hyperactive/Impulse (90.1)
(Association, 2022)
Reliability-between .91 and .
94
Validity-
r=.79
(Wolraich, 2003)
Age Appropriateness: This
assessment is given to
children ages 6-12.
Assessment 2:
Child Trauma Screen (CTS)
This is a brief assessment for
children ages 6-17 that suffer
from PTE and/or PTSD
(Lang & Connell, 2017).
The assessment can be used
by either clinical or non-
clinical individuals. The
setting can be any which
includes a child. The
assessment can be either self-
report or interview style
(Lang & Connell, 2017). If
data and information is going
Validity- .97 (parental) and .

Reliability -.82 (parental) and

to be used in a study, must let
client/patient know data will
be included but it will not
have identifiable marks ("Aca
Code of Ethics," 2006).
Assessment 3:
Vineland Adaptive Behavior
Scales
This assessment is used for
diagnosing intellectual and
developmental disabilities
from birth to 99. This
includes but not limited to
ASD, ADHD,
Dementia/Alzheimer, other
Intellectual and
Developmental disorders
("Vineland Adaptive
Behavior Scales (Vabs),"
2021).
The assessment is a semi-
structured interview. The
validity may be lacking and it
is recommended this be used
with other assessments. The
assessment should be given
by a trained professional as
results need to be interpreted.
As always this assessment is
not to discriminate or isolate
students (Association, 2022).
Parental or client permission
is necessary per ethical
standards. If data and
information is going to be
used in a study, must let
client/patient know data will
be included but it will not
have identifiable marks ("Aca
Code of Ethics," 2006).
The validity of this is not
measured at this time because
we do not have a standard.
The reliability ranges from .
93-.97 for composite scoring
and .80-.90 for subdomains.
("Vineland Adaptive
Behavior Scales (Vabs),"
2021)
