Culture, Climate, and Communication
Culture, climate, and communication are all important to schools because they create an environment where students can learn and grow. A positive school culture is supportive, inclusive, and respectful. It is a place where students feel safe and valued. On our campus, it is evident through my work with my principal mentor that it’s not only essential for our students to feel safe and valued but also for our staff.
Needs Assessment
Our mission is to empower every student to reach their maximum potential through meaningful learning and one of the best ways that we plan to do this is through our CIP goals. In collaborating with my principal mentor, we were able to analyze our campus needs assessment. Our campus needs assessment identified a total of 5 problem statements or areas of concern. As a
leadership team, we sat down at the beginning of the school to determine which needs were of great importance and could be something that we could develop an action plan for. The following were selected as our first needs to address:
The problem is math MAP 31.84% of our K-5th grade students scored below the 40th percentile in Numerical Representation and Relationships.
The problem is reading MAP 47.86% of our 1st and 2nd-grade students scored below the 40th percentile in Foundational Language Skills: Beginning Reading & Writing
The problem is reading MAP 39.85% of our 3rd through 5th grade students scored below the 40th percentile in Multiple Genres

My principal mentor, associate principal, and I identified the root cause is possible that teachers are not using targeted questioning when planning in PLC to see exactly where our students are struggling.
Improvement Actions
Our campus is passionate about tackling our areas of growth. Our leadership team worked together to develop action plans to help with all three areas. To address these needs our campus is using the strategy to focus on data-informed decision-making within Collaborative Teams to impact Tier 1 instruction. The plan of action is reliant on our campus utilizing the PLC process with fidelity by analyzing where our units are going and beginning with the end in mind. Through deep analysis of our CFA data and lesson plans, our hope is that we can create flexible groups to meet the needs of all students in the best possible way.
Shared Plan
To stay true to our mission my principal mentor and our leadership team of teachers, worked together to create a presentation of our performance objectives with an action plan to share with all of our staff on the second day back of professional development. Together with the
presentation, teams had the chance to work together to plan how they felt it would be best to address these needs. Our performance objectives are also shared with our families through various communications in our campus student handbook.
As a campus, we believe that all means all, and the best way to meet the needs of all students is by working together with our stakeholders of families and community members to 3
