A JOURNEY CALLED DISCERNMENT,
THE INFINITE PERSPECTIVES INSIDE THE
WORKPLACE Sally’s tumultuous journey of discernment involving various workplace challenges and the perspectives she ascertained through her efforts to
advocate for change. Exploring the pros and cons of pursuing a career in Customer Relations. Depicting the encounters with communication barriers, internal disagreements.
I was able to properly Identify the barriers Sally
was encountering due to the various scenarios and
examples learned during this course. For example
when discernment isn’t a part of your decision
making, there’s a good chance your conclusion was
drawn from opinion or speculation. Sally
discernment assisted her in the situations where
stress in the workplace is a common barrier.
Additional barriers Sally faces included social
pressure, emotional reactions, conformity, self-
doubt, and fallacious reasoning. Sallys ability to recognize the barriers and
maneuver diligently will allow Sally to successfully
solve work related issues. Sally demonstrates er
ability to evolve by continuously utilizing her
critical thinking skills. Social Pressure and Conformity:
Sally initially refrains from expressing her
disagreement during the discussion with her
colleagues due to the social pressure to conform.
She nods along with their viewpoints to avoid
confrontation. This barrier highlights the influence
of social dynamics on critical thinking. Emotional
Reactions: Sally experiences emotional exhaustion
and agitation after a long day of addressing
customer complaints. This emotional state could
potentially hinder her ability to engage in rational
thinking. However, she does not let her emotions
dictate her actions and instead chooses to address
customer concerns effectively. Self-Doubt
: When Sally’s manager questions her
punctuality in response to her proposal for a
warranty change, he attempts to undermine her
argument. Despite this attempt to introduce self-
doubt, Sally remains persistent and continues to
advocate for her proposal. Her ability to push
through self-doubt is a sign of strong critical
thinking
