Open and review all documents linked in the assignment.
Review the rubric at the bottom of Module 10 E Draft Summative Artifact
STEP 2: Before beginning your draft:

STEP 3: Prepare to Draft Part 1 of your Summative Artifact:
Follow the checklist as you draft Part 1 of your
summative artifact. Use the attached artifact template.
Overall, Part 1
(30 points)
Choose one:
Part 1a: Rubric Row 1
(10 points).
Use the first column on the template.
Select the 3-4 explicit and systematic instructional practices you identified in the lesson from
those listed on the artifact template.
Then
highlight, right click, and DELETE the unused rows of the remaining instructional practices.
Part 1b: Rubric Row 2
(10 points).
Use the second column on the template.
Include evidence of the location for each selected instructional practice:
A page number and the heading from the lesson component
OR
A page number and brief description of the evidence in the lesson

Use the third column on the template.
Explain how each selected instructional practice impacts/helps students learn the skill. (The
impact should focus on student learning not teacher benefit.)

same artifact template as Part 1.

Review/analyze the student response sample for the grade/lesson you chose for Part 1.

Identify and describe one or more specific student literacy-based strength(s)
from the student work response based on reading, writing and/or oral language development and
include evidence from the student work response.
NEED (paragraph 2):
Identify and describe one specific student literacy-based need from the student
work response based on reading, writing and/or oral language development and include evidence from
the student work response
INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN (paragraph 3):
Develop an instructional plan based on the 1 student
literacy-based need you identified.
Briefly describe your plan of action to support the student’s identified literacy-based need,
including the setting, duration, and frequency of your support based on your Texas Reading
Academies (TRA) learning.
Provide this information in

or less. (To conserve word count and remain under

STEP 5: When you finish drafting Parts 1-2a, make sure you:

for Cohort Leader feedback.
Your draft submission is a safety net
allowing your Cohort Leader to provide feedback on your artifact
draft PRIOR to centralized grading. Feedback confirms your artifact contains required rubric elements.
Using the DRAFT process is strongly encouraged, increasing your potential to pass the artifact the first time.
Stop and wait for feedback from your Cohort Leader before completing Parts 2b-2e.
