Topic 6 DQ 2 How can the art of storytelling be incorporated into social studies and arts instruction? Discuss one example of a social studies standard that could be assessed through storytelling. Telling stories is fundamental to our identity as human beings. It is the means by which we pass along to individuals in our immediate vicinity and the next generation our values, customs, and history. Children learn that social studies is about people's lives, not simply historical dates, when storytelling is incorporated into social studies and art lessons. Learning becomes more interesting and likely to stick in memory as a result. According to Brophy, Allemen, and Halvorsen, stories give kids the chance to draw parallels between their lives and those of individuals who live in different eras or locations. (2018). 1.5.  Identify ways different cultures record their histories, compare past and present I'll talk about how individuals have evolved over time and what has remained the same. In the classroom, teachers, parents, and grandparents will share brief anecdotes. Students will be informed about the distinctions between the earlier years of their parents, grandparents, and teachers and make a comparison with the present. 2.4 Compare nations holidays with holidays of other cultures. The learner will gain knowledge about how holidays are observed in several foreign nations. They'll learn that not everyone adheres to the same customs and values. Students will get the chance to learn about and portray a different culture in the classroom. We'll talk about the similarities and contrasts between other cultures in class.
