Creative expression is work that has human value. It can produce culture or be an elements of self-fulfillment whereby work and hobbies are deeply satisfying to a person. [ CITATION Joh22 \l 1033 ] In the television show named “The Wire” created by David Simon, the actors and actresses act of creative expression impacted urban viewers from teens to those in their 60s. “The Wire” showed a convincing view of the Baltimore city life, the people who live there and situations surrounding them. It truly gave a realistic vision of what one experiences having a drug addict for a parent, having to watch a friend become a drug fiend or what its like for a teenage boy living in Baltimore, Maryland having to resist the urge to sell drugs in order to care for his siblings because his parents are hooked on drugs. Questions about the relationship between culture and expression would be: 1. How does culture influence the forms of creative expression within a society? Culture plays a significant role in shaping the forms of creative expression within a society. Some examples are cultural beliefs, values, and traditions provide a foundation for creative expression. They shape the themes, subjects, and messages conveyed through various art forms. 2. What are the ethical considerations involved in the intersection of culture and expression? The intersection of culture and expression raises several ethical considerations. An ethical concern is the appropriation of cultural elements by individuals or groups from outside that culture. It involves borrowing or adopting cultural practices, symbols, or artifacts without proper understanding, respect, or permission. It is important to consider the power dynamics, potential harm, and exploitation that can arise from cultural appropriation
Questions about values and how they are shaped by the expression of other would be: 1. Can exposure to different perspectives and expressions challenge or reinforce our existing values? Yes, exposure to different perspectives and expressions challenge/reinforce our existing values. Exposure to different expressions can broaden our perspectives by offering alternative narratives and experiences. It allows us to see the world through different lenses, fostering empathy, understanding, and tolerance. This exposure can challenge narrow-mindedness and encourage us to embrace diversity, leading to a more inclusive and open-minded approach to our values. 2. How do societal norms and cultural expectations shape the way we perceive and respond to the expression of others? Navigation of our complex social world is facilitated by shared social expectations that influence behavior. [ CITATION Ame21 \l 1033 ] Societal norms and cultural expectations play a significant role in shaping the way we perceive and respond to the expression of others. Societal norms and cultural expectations can create social pressure to conform to certain standards of expression. This pressure may influence our willingness to express ourselves authentically or to conform to dominant cultural norms. It can also shape our response to the expressions of others, as we may feel compelled to align with societal expectations.
