Make a choice --- Theater/Drama or Dance/Movement For this portion of your portfolio (40 points) you will complete the following: 1 Form of Drama, Movement, or Dance - Describe something (dance, movement, or theater/drama skill that you think is important to teach/practice for your grade level and HOW you will relate it to your theme. 1 CD (age appropriate) or playlist of 10 songs for background music or that promotes learning in your area for use in the chosen drama, movement or dance. 1 local visiting dance or movement live performer – complete relevant information for selecting the performer. Explain how you would locate, invite, and the criteria for the performer to visit your classroom. o Explain: Why you chose this visiting artist What teaching objective/point will be addressed How their visit will extend or support your teaching in the classroom Briefly describe how it relates to the grade level objectives related to art and the content area Theater/Drama or Dance/Movement floor plan and center information – The center can include items you used in your lesson(s) but should also include other novel materials . The center materials should be open-ended enough to encourage children to extend the activity or create an alternative activity. Make sure the center is grade level appropriate (you may refer to the TEKS or Pre-K guidelines for guidance). o Center: The center information needs to include the following: A drawing, sketch, or floor plan of the Theater/Movement/Dance/Drama center floor plan center State the goal or purpose for the center List the skills students will develop or practice List basic materials needed for the center List guidelines and behavior expectations students will follow before the centers begins Lesson Plan – Theater/Drama/Dance/Movement skill focused with integration to content area – o Include: the grade level, the thematic unit, TEKS or PK Guidelines for BOTH Art and Content area Mode & setting – Whole Group, Small Group, Center- independent learning Use template below to assist in your lesson plan Assessment instrument– find or construct an assessment instrument that will evaluate one skill you would teach in your classroom o Explain the purpose of the instrument and HOW you will use it.
