Goal for this observation: Social skills learn how to ask without grabbing or taking toys from others Setting: Classroom/Block center Date/Time: 8/29 Basic Activity: Block center group of two Focus Child: Trinity Jackson Others involved: Mel. N The Anecdote: Trinity and Mel was playing with big colorful Legos each one had their own pale of Legos until Trinity didn’t have any more left. Until she started looking around for more, she realized Mel had more left, so she reached over and grab two blocks and started using them on her building. Mel responses was “NOOO that’s mines”. Mel grabs the Legos back and Trinity started screaming very loud. The teacher(Mrs. Lewis) walked over and asked the girls what’s going on and Mel responses was “Trinity took my Legos, and I want them back.” Reflection or Comment: Goal for this observation: Social Setting: Classroom Date/Time: 8/30 Basic Activity: Circle Time Focus Child: Trinity Jackson Others involved: N/A The Anecdote: At 8:00 A.M Trinity was sitting down quietly on the round carpet with ABC’S and shapes. When the teacher was pointing at each alphabet letter the kids were saying which letter is was. Trinity didn’t speak out loud but I can see her mouth moving silently. Reflection or Comment: I would love for Trinity to open during circle time and engage with the other classmates during circle time Goal for this observation: Social development Setting: Classroom Date/Time: August 31 2022 Basic Activity: Open play/Housekeeping Focus Child: Trinity Jackson Others involved: Izabelle.L
The Anecdote: Trinity was playing with housekeeping materials for 30 minutes, using kitchen utensils and play food etc. While playing in housekeeping she piled food on the plate and she sat down at a blue table with the play food on the plate and was acting like she was eating real food. And she was at the table with Izabella as well having a small talk such as saying “It’s good! Yummy.” With a big smile on her face. Reflection or Comment: she is now expressing her feelings toward things and people Summarized: Trinity is showing progress in the observations. As the first anecdote she was having trouble using her social skills and using her words. I use that knowledge throughout my classroom when kids don’t use their words or we will say “Nice hands and feet.” I feel like am doing an amazing job as a teacher with social development skills. The records have helped me analyze Trinity’s progress through the classroom. But I do feel like I should do more face-to-face conversations with her to make her more comfortable to use her social skills with her other friends.
