The Dinner Party by Judy Chicago
The dinner party by Judy Chicago 1974-79 is an installation of artwork considered as the
first grand feminist artwork ever in history. The art focused on feminism and its primary reason
was to revise on the role women played in the society which according to Judy had been dazed
by male colleagues. Based on a personal perspective, Judy Chicago’s art is inspiring and has
impacted most women positively. Women can also make an impact on the world and thus they
should be given equal educational and job opportunities as men. This paper discusses Judy
Chicago’s inspiration particularly to women.
Over the past few years, Chicago has impacted women who have been pushed to the side
like she did throughout her art career and still continues to influence emerging artists. Some of
the artists include Lisa Krannichfeld, Keri Oldman and Rusudan Khizanishvili who utilized the
path paved by Chicago in their artist expression (Evangelyn 2018). Stereotyping women is
harmful considering that it restricts their ideas particularly on the roles they should play which
most of the time are low paying careers and low status careers. Thus, the society finds it
intimidating when a woman is powerful, leading, highly opinionated or agentic and that should
not be the case. The dinner party by Chicago has inspired women that they are capable and they
should not be defined by societal standards. Despite the numerous challenges, Judy was
determined to proof to the world that women were capable. She also wanted to secure the chance
of women in the male dominated world. Chicago continues to be inspirational to most women to
be feminine, ambitious and devoted.
The society should give women equal opportunities as that of their male counterparts
considering that they are equally important and beneficial. Giving them similar opportunities can

be beneficial considering that they can improve the economical and innovational state of a
country. Thus, women receiving less job opportunities or education should be discouraged
strongly.
