Infographics: Making Visual Sense of Literary Lenses! For all its benefits, the impact of the internet in our society has been highly disruptive. A consequence of the growth of the internet is the constant stream of information that we wade through on a daily basis. We now face the problem of making sense of huge amounts of facts, data, and ideas, as well as complex issues, processes, and arguments. Consider for a moment how the internet has exponentially increased your own information consumption and how this affects your ability to process and make sense of so much content. As a response to this, Infographic popularity has exploded, since visual processing of images is much faster than reading traditional text. Effective design , layout , and data visualization is crucial for this media form’s efficacy. Your Mission Your job is to present what you understand about your literary lens in a well-designed, creative, and effective infographic. Your goal is to take a complex idea and simplify it while making it both visually appealing and comprehensible for your peers. You will share your infographic with the whole class on Thursday and Friday, May 13 & 14. Steps for Success: Choose a lens and research it (either in pairs or alone) Develop your Infographic for an audience of your classmates Include: Title: Informative but draw your audience in Definition Some type of lens graphic image (glasses, goggles, etc.) Supporting explanations (suggestion of 4) Analysis/Explanation of lens using a common text (one that most of your peers are familiar with - think Disney, Pixar, etc.) Complete a works cited for all sources that are not your own (MLA format: visuals, etc. must be cited unless you created them) 5-8 minutes; you can model your script on the Stranger Than Fiction script.
