When it comes to learning disabilities and how they intwine with psychology and
anthropology, it’s an intriguing topic to explore. The exploration of the depths of psychology and
anthropology gives us a deeper understanding of the social problems that come with learning
disabilities. These disciplines shed light on the psychological and cultural aspects that influence
how children with learning disabilities are perceived, supported, and included. Exploring the
connection of psychology and anthropology in understanding learning disabilities provides
insights into effective interventions and support strategies.
Learning disabilities can be seen as a social problem because they can create barriers to equal
opportunities as well as inclusion. They can affect a child’s ability to learn and fully engage
themselves in educational and social settings. Addressing these challenges provides support to
these children and allows them to succeed together. Psychology and anthropology are both
applicable to help understand and address learning disabilities. Psychology helps us understand
the emotional factors that contribute to difficulties with learning, while anthropology explores
the cultural and social aspects that influence how learning disabilities are looked upon and
supported. These two disciplines ensure insights for effective interventions as well as promoting
inclusion with education.
Psychological concepts and theoretical approaches give us the ability to understand learning
disabilities by providing a deeper look into cognitive processes, memory, attention, and problem
solving. Along with this they explore emotional factors which can also impact learning. These
aspects studied allow us to investigate causes, assessment and intervention strategies that will
help children with learning disabilities.
Anthropology contributes to the understanding of learning disabilities by examining cultural
aspects and social factors that show how they can be influenced and supported. This allows us to

understand how different societies view and react to learning disabilities and how cultural beliefs
and some practices can mold educational journeys for these children. Cultural context provides a
look into inclusive education and cultural sensitivity remaining important in supporting learning
disabilities.
Psychology and anthropology have different approaches and findings in a few different ways.
Psychology focuses on the internal mental processes and behaviors while anthropology looks at
cultural and social aspects that shape behavior.
Psychology relies on controlled experiments and quantitative research methods whereas
anthropology acts with qualitive research methods. These differences allow these disciplines to
provide distinctive insights to human interactions and experiences.
The scholarly article I chose

psychologists when working with and supporting autistic, gender-diverse children and young
people?
covers the case studies they have performed to find how children with autism learn and
communicate. This article provides a good look at why some schools have difficult times
implementing learning techniques for these kids that will benefit them. Why are educational
psychologists important?
aiding in the children’s behavior and understanding the best way that
they learn and interact with peers while having the patience for them during the day. EPs are
important to help aid the teacher and help them understand the special learning and behaviors
they will be presented with.

trajectory classes. This article teaches that they are more likely to experience poorer long-term
achievements than other kids their age. They checked in with kids that had IEPs for school and
checked their progress every spring. These two psychology articles are qualitative data.

Disabilities
, this article is anthropology discipline. In this article it is discussed what classifies
those with learning disabilities what it entails and can entail and how they are studying said
person to learn more about disabilities. During this methodological case study they check,
monitor, and evaluate their actions. Some questions asked in this article are what classifies
learning disabilities, what kind of strategies are working for communication. Anthropology links
our cultures to the way we do things and what will trigger memories. This helps to know if some
behaviors or learning techniques are due to cultural reasons.
Introduction For an Anthropology of Cognitive Disability
article talks about how they studied in
social groups. Cognitive differences, how children with autism understand differences between
societies. Emphasizing the role of social limitations with cognitive differences. Do things turn
out differently for them? They believe this is considered a cultural- bound syndrome. This was
performed in a quantitative research method.
A similarity I have come across with my scholarly articles on my disciplines was that they both
used case study methodology. I believe qualitative research was a smart choice, but quantitative
research might have provided more insight into social problem.
Examining social issues from multiple social fields such as the two I have chosen, provides a
more comprehensive understanding of society. Psychology understands thoughts, emotions, and
behaviors while anthropology gives us a look in cultural basics, values and their social structure.

Both perspectives allowed us a deeper understanding of how people and societies interact as well
as how social issues are shaped by certain factors. This allows us to have a more informed
approach to confronting a change in society.
Examining learning disabilities from multiple social science perspectives gave a better
understanding of this social issue. Psychology helped understand the aspects of learning
disabilities and anthropology helped understand cultural and social contexts that show how
learning disabilities are viewed within different communities. These views together interact
between single and society factors allowing a better understanding of the challenges faced by
children with learning disabilities. This allows a better strategy to support these children.
Social science research is important in addressing social problems by allowing a look into
evidence and solutions. Different research methods can look at causes, impacts and results of
social issues. They notice patterns and correlations throughout their research which allows us a
understanding of the problems. Providing us knowledge to ensure better interventions and
programs. Social science research allows us to make informed decisions, speak up for changes
and provide a more inclusive atmosphere.
In conclusion when It comes to understanding learning disabilities the interdisciplinary approach
of psychology and anthropology social sciences allow a better understanding. Psychology helps
individual factors and anthropology shows cultural factors. This provides a deeper look into
challenges faced by children with learning disabilities. Exploring the connection of psychology
and anthropology in understanding learning disabilities provides insights into effective
interventions and support strategies.
