Rosemary Gonzalez EEC 4211 Short Assignment #4 - Reviewing and presenting a children’s television science program There are many different television programs that are very beneficial for students that help construct a better science learning for them. Kids don’t just have to learn with materials in a classroom there are many different television programs that can help improve a child’s science educate. The program I choose was The Magic School Bus, the episode I choose was The Magic School Bus Inside the Earth. This episode is age appropriate for 3 rd graders and can be implementing while discussing about the earth’s crust and volcanos. Also, when talking about earth day we can implement this episode in out lessons. We get to teach our students in our classes and also show them how another teacher in a tv program can help teach other students as well. As of this episode it starts with the teacher Ms. Frizzle digging through the earths crust then traveling to the center of the earth and out through the mouth of the volcano. They explore the crust of the earth and the volcano teaching students about the inside of the volcano with Ms. Frizzle’s classmates. The Magic School Bus program helps students engage better in class because they are seeing how learning can happen in many ways. I consider this program a very interesting program as it helps child interact with what they are watching and pay attention as it entertains and teaches them at the same time. The program is an informative program because it helps teach about earth and volcanos while helping them learn through a screen. Something I find interesting is that this program has books that can also be read to them for children to interact more. Having different ways of teaching science helps improve the engagement of students and the way you can help get a better score for student’s assignments. Student’s need to have different ways of learning so they can focus and not get tired and bored.
