The subfield of anthropology that I decided to describe would be cultural anthropology/ethnology. I chose this subfield because it was the one that piqued my curiosity the most. In cultural anthropology we compare cultures from the past to the present to see if they are still similar to their older ways or if they have changed through the years. Cultural anthropology differs from biological anthropology because biological anthropology focuses more on the human rather than their culture. Though both anthropological linguistics and archaeology are similar to cultural anthropology. Archaeology focuses on studying a culture’s past using relics or skeletal remains. Anthropological linguistics focuses on studying languages from different cultures. Now if you take both of those and combine them into one you would get cultural anthropology. To address the social issues of today using cultural anthropology, I would first look at the parties involved in this social issue to see if a similar issue such as the one they are facing has occurred in the past. I would then look at the outcome of that previous occurrence to see if there were a way I could avoid getting the same results in the current social issue. Ember, C., Ember, M., & Peregrine, P.
