Spring 2023
Homework 2
Due: Wednesday, 01 February by 11:59 p.m. via Canvas
Total Problems: 4 (250 points)
Draw the required views of the given objects using the methods discussed in
lecture (1, 2). Create a 3D model using SolidWorks using the figures provided (3).
Answer questions in the textbook (4) and scan them to a PDF along with your
orthographic projection sketches.
General Instructions:
1.
You must use graphing paper, a pencil, and a ruler to create orthographic
projection sketches for this assignment.
2.
Draw all necessary lines, including visible, hidden, center, etc.
3.
All holes are through unless explicitly stated otherwise.
4.
Make sure to follow 3rd angle projection method with appropriate
orientation.
SolidWorks Models:
5.
All sketches must be fully defined.
6.
All holes are through holes unless explicitly stated otherwise.
7.
All part files must be in ANSI
, ISO format will not be accepted.
8.
All drawings files must be ANSI Landscape, sheet size A
. Sheets
formatted in ISO or having Portrait orientation will not be accepted.
9.
Models must have the correct orientation with respect to front/top/right
planes, as demonstrated in lecture.
10.
Drawings must include all three standard views, correctly positioned, with
hidden lines visible and center lines/marks added. No dimensions are
required on the drawing at this point.
11.
You must name your files correctly using the save command in SolidWorks;
save your files using the
exact
naming template

where
#
is the respective problem number.
Do not rename your files in Windows
Explorer
. It is your responsibility to re-open your completed drawing files
prior to submission on Canvas to make sure the link to their respective part
files is functional. Drawing files with broken links cannot be graded.

1.
Draw the front, top, and right view orthographic projections for the given figure below.
You must decide which views to assign as the front and top.
Be sure to include your
sheet scale. (50 points)
2.
Draw the front, top, and right view orthographic projections for the given figure below.
Use the orientation given.
Be sure to include your sheet scale. Note: assume the entire
back is flat and co-planar, i.e., in the right view, the rightmost visible line denoting the
rear surface is vertical, not angled. (50 points)

3.
Make a SolidWorks part file and create a 3D model using the given dimensions below,
then create a drawing file from your part file and add the three standard views.
You must
determine the orientation of your model. All dimensions are in IPS,
all sketches
must be fully defined
. (80 points)
