Assignment 1.2 Computerized and Manual Accounting Systems 2 The advantages of using a computerized accounting system versus a manual accounting system includes a few things. Reducing the time on using a manual process might be one of the biggest advantages. The computerized accounting system can automate the bookkeeping and accounting processes like complex calculations. Other advantages include less errors with more accuracy, real-time financial reporting, and automated credit notes and receipts. Disadvantages of using computerized accounting versus manual would include cost of installation-computer hardware needs replacement and software needs to be updated from time to time with the availability of newer versions. System failure, the danger of a system crashing due to some failure in hardware can lead to subsequent interruption of work. This is more when no back-up is made. The other disadvantages are cost of training, system failure, power outages and security breaches.
