Victim Type Interactions between Victim and Criminal Justice Professionals Experiences of the Victim Child Victim When working with victims who are children, one wants to ensure they handle these cases with extra care. While yes, even when working with adults, cases should be handled delicately, children require special attention. (2015) Advocates and other criminal justice professionals should ensure they have created a trauma-informed space where the child knows they are now safe. It is also important not to shame or judge child victims as many times their abuser is either a family member or someone else who was in a position of authority over the child.
