Explanation of Solution

Given: Which of the two methods given in the text for simplifying complex rational expressions do you prefer? Write a brief paragraph stating the reasons of your choice.

Method $1$ : Using Division

This method is use to simplify the rational expression by multiplying the numerator by the reciprocal of the divisor.

For example:

  $\frac{\frac{3}{5}}{\frac{2}{5}}=\frac{3}{5}\cdot \frac{5}{2}=\frac{3}{2}$

Method $2$ : Using LCD

This is method is use to simplify the rational expression by multiplying numerator and denominator by the least common denominator.

For example:

  $\frac{\frac{3}{4}}{\frac{1}{2}}=\frac{\frac{3}{4}\cdot 4}{\frac{1}{2}\cdot 4}=\frac{3}{2}$

I would prefer to use the method using LCD.
