A cruise ship is moving at constant speed through the water. The vacationers on the ship are eager to arrive at their next destination. They decide to try to speed up the cruise ship by gathering at the bow (the front) and running together toward the stem (the back) of the ship. (i) While they are running toward the stern, is the speed of the ship (a) higher than it was before, (b) unchanged, (c) lower than it was before, or (d) impossible to determine? (ii) The vacationers stop running when they reach the stem of the ship. After they have all stopped running, is the speed of the ship (a) higher titan it was before they started running, (b) unchanged from what it was before they started running, (c) lower than it was before they started running, or (d) impossible to determine?

- (I). The motions of two objects, A and B, are defined by the following vectors: vector A = 6.0622i + 3.500j m/s vector B = 5.9500i - 10.3057j m/s unit vector of bullet = -j Object A and B left at the same time and at the same point. Object A aims to hit object B by firing a bullet in the direction stated above after 20 seconds. a). What should be the velocity of the bullet so that it will hit object B? b). What is the distance between object A and B the moment the bullet hits object B? c). What is the velocity vector of the bullet?arrow_forward(I) A person going for a morning jog on the deck of acruise ship is running toward the bow (front) of the ship at 2.0 m/swhile the ship is moving ahead at What is 8.5 m/s the velocity of the jogger relative to the water? Later, the jogger is moving toward the stern (rear) of the ship. What is the jogger’s velocity relative to the water now?arrow_forward12–102. If the dart is thrown with a speed of 10 m/s, determine the shortest possible time before it strikes the target. Also, what is the corresponding angle 04 at which it should be thrown, and what is the velocity of the dart when it strikes the target? 12–103. If the dart is thrown with a speed of 10 m/s, determine the longest possible time when it strikes the target. Also, what is the corresponding angle 04 at which it should be thrown, and what is the velocity of the dart when it strikes the target? 4 marrow_forward
- Victoria is standing on a boat, during a perfectly calm day. Initially, both are not moving. Then Victoria walks from one end of the boat to the other. Take the initial time to be before she walks and the final while still walking. b) Compare the final speed of the boat with Victoria’s final speed. Are they the same or different? Why?arrow_forwardA truck is traveling east at 80 km/h. At an intersection 32 km ahead, a car is traveling north at 50 km/h. (a) How long after this moment will the vehicles be closest to each other? Unfortunately, he only has with him a stopwatch and a baseball. Luckily, he has a plan. While Jane stays at the bottom of the cliff, Bob climbs up the cliff face. When he reaches the top, he throws the baseball as hard as he can, with a velocity of 33.7 m/s at an angle of 22.5°. Some time later, Jane shouts that the ball landed 127 m from the bottom of the cliff. a) If Bob threw the ball from 1.50 m above the clifftop, how high is the cliff itself? stv MacBook Pro X End N Camera Off Live Photo & %3D 6. 8. 6. de Y U P. %3D J.
